Diamond Knife

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1982
SUMMARY We present a new diamond knife which allows for reasonably precise incisions in cornea or sclera. The knife may be ultrasonically cleaned and is sharper than any metal knife whose edge we have examined to date by scanning electron microscopy.

Diamond array of diamond elements

2016 IEEE-APS Topical Conference on Antennas and Propagation in Wireless Communications (APWC), 2016
The radiation characteristics of a diamond array (DA) of diamond elements are calculated using the method of moments. It is found that the maximum gain for the DA is higher than that for a conventional grid array antenna (GAA). It is also found that the frequency bandwidth of the gain for the DA is slightly narrower than that for the conventional GAA.

Diamond and Diamond-Like Carbon

2013
A carbon allotrope is classified as “diamond” according to several parameters including the types of chemical bonds, type of crystal network, or range of crystal dimensionality. This chapter is a review on two major allotropes: diamond and diamond-like carbon, which are mostly produced by CVD technique.

Diamond and diamond-like coatings

Materials & Design, 1990
Abstract Polycrystalline diamond thin films can be fabricated at low pressures and temperatures by the thermal or plasma-assisted dissociation of hydrocarbon-hydrogen gas mixtures. This has generated considerable worldwide interest because of the remarkable properties of diamond in terms of hardness, thermal conductivity, semiconductivity optical ...

Conflict Diamonds? Not Every Diamond Is a Blood Diamond

2009
This chapter focuses on one of the hottest issues for the diamond industry: conflict (or ‘blood’) diamonds. The generations-old symbolic significance of a diamond as a stone of love and wealth suddenly began to change into a stone of war, misery, and hatred. Based on a theoretical approach to moral panic, analysed here in this chapter is the process of
