Effects of Inhomogeneity on the Causal Entropic prediction of Lambda

open access: yes, 2012
The causal entropic principle aims to predict the unexpectedly small value of the cosmological constant Lambda using a weighting by entropy increase on causal diamonds. The original work assumed a purely isotropic and homogeneous cosmology.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

The Distribution of Ar and Xe Inside Diamond Grains from Efremovka [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Analysis of the release pattern of Ar and Xe from grain size fractions of Efremovka presolar diamonds at stepped combustion and pyrolysis indicates that in both cases the gases release as a result of destruction of the diamond ...

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

The problem of identifying lower crustal garnet-clinopyroxene granulites and mantle eclogites: a case study of xenoliths from the V.Grib pipe

open access: yesЗаписки Горного института
The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the mineralogical and geochemical features of xenoliths from the V.Grib kimberlite pipe, represented by lower crustal garnet-clinopyroxene granulites and mantle eclogites. A comparative characterization of

Helium isotopic ratios in carbonaceous chondrites: Significant for the early solar nebula and circumstellar diamonds? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Stepwise etching of acid-resistant residues from carbonaceous chondrites yields a new, extraordinarily low He isotopic ratio for phase Q that might represent early solar nebula composition.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...
