Requirements for diapause development of larvae of Choristoneura fumiferana have been generally believed to be met by temperatures of 2°C or below for a period ranging from 14 to 20 weeks (see review by Sanders 1991), whereas those favourable for post-diapause development were shown to be above 11°C (Régnière 1990).

Insect hormones: Their effects on diapause and development of hymenoptera
Life Sciences, 1969Abstract Prepupal diapause of the alkali bee, Nomia melanderi , was terminated by injection of ∝-ecdysone and three phytoecdysones (cyasterone, ecdysterone and inokosterone). Synthetic juvenile hormone, cholesterol, β-sitosterol, copper sulfate and zinc acetate had no effect. When juvenile hormone was injected simultaneously with ∝-ecdysone, the

Abstract 1. 1.|Exposure to cold during diapause led to an improvement in the efficiency of mitochondrial metabolism. After 2 months of diapause, several differences at the mitochondrial level were observed between pupae kept at 5 or 20°C. 2. 2.|After 60 days of diapause at 5°C, mitochondrial respiratory activity was higher than in pupae left ...

Brain glycogen during non-diapausing and diapausing development ofPieris brassicaelarvae and pupae
Invertebrate Reproduction & Development, 1993Summary Histological and cytological localization of glycogen was studied in the brain of Pieris brassicae larvae and pupae by histochemistry and electron microscopy. The major glycogen deposits were observed in glial cells located between the cortex and the neuropile and also in perineurial cells.

AbstractEffects of putrescine on diapause induction and intensity, and post‐diapause development in Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) from Wuhan, Hubei, China were studied in the laboratory at different temperatures and photoperiod conditions. The results showed a generally higher incidence of diapause in putrescine‐feeding groups.

Delay of human early development via in vitro diapause
2023SUMMARYMany mammals can control the timing of gestation and birth by pausing embryonic development at the blastocyst stage. It is unknown whether the capacity to pause development is conserved, in general across mammals, and more specifically in humans. Activity of the growth regulating mTOR pathway governs developmental pausing in the mouse (1).

Transcription in diapausing and developing pupae of Celerio euphorbiae
Insect Biochemistry, 1981Abstract Diapausing pupae of Celerio euphorbiae contain, mainly in the ribosomal fraction, small amount of polyadenylated RNA in a non-translatable form. Translatable polyadenylated RNA appears at hibernation, simultaneously with acetylcholinesterase activity, when limited reactivation of transcription and translation starts.

Diapause development in the chestnut weevil Curculio elephas
Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, 1993AbstractLarval diapause development in the chestnut weevil Curculio elephas (Coleoptera, Curculionidae) was studied in the laboratory at different temperatures. The results proved that exposure to low temperatures (3–6 °C) in the period December–February is not required to complete diapause.

Prenatal Development after Diapause in the Marsupial Macropus rufogriseus
Australian Journal of Zoology, 1981Prenatal development of Macropus rufogriseus was described in eight stages ranging from a quiescent blastocyst to a near-term foetus. Embryos and corpora lutea were induced to resume development after diapause by the removal of suckling pouch young (RPY). The diameter of unilaminar blastocysts ranged from approximately 260 µm at 0 days after RPY to 290

Abstract 1. 1. Between oviposition and the late gastrula we found that the concentration of ecdysteroids is higher in diapausing eggs than in non-diapausing eggs. 2. 2. Enzymatic hydrolysis, with Helix pomatia juice, of the conjugated ecdysteroids increases the immunoreactivity of the extracts in greater proportion in diapausing eggs. 3.
