Polysomes in diapausing and developing embryos of Bombyx mori
Insect Biochemistry, 1977Abstract Particles sedimenting in a 12 to 36% sucrose gradient like polysomes were found in diapausing embryos of Bombyx mori . The predominance of heavy components and an unusually high protein content were characteristic for these “dormant” polysomes.

DIAPAUSE IN THE PHARATE ADULT STAGE OF INSECT DEVELOPMENT
The Canadian Entomologist, 1982AbstractPharate adult (adult within the pupal cuticle) diapause was discovered in Barbara colfaxiana (Kft.) and is reported. This phenomenon is uncommon in insect development. It was also shown that both the termination of diapause and the subsequent advancement of pharate adult development can occur at 0 °C.

Fish: Diapause, Dormancy, Aestivation, and Delay in Gonad Development
2019The review addresses different types of dormancy on fish. It can be subdivided into two groups. The first is adult aestivation. This allows fish to survive droughts in low latitude freshwater environments (several species from various families), or ice coverage periods causing anoxic conditions in high latitudes (cyprinid Carassius spp.).

ABSTRACT Normally the egg of Ephippiger cruciger is subject to diapause when the embryo is almost fully developed. Most eggs die or develop erratically and slowly when chilled for some time at earlier non-diapausing stages. However, after 2 or 3 months’ cooling at a stage just before catatrepsis a few eggs developed more rapidly than ...

Abstract The haemolymph ecdysteroid titre and in vitro capacities of prothoracic glands and corpora allata to synthesize ecdysone and juvenile hormone, respectively, during the last-larval instar of diapause-destined (short-day) and non-diapause-destined (long-day) Manduca sexta were investigated.

Juvenile hormone induces ovarian development in diapausing cave-dwelling Drosophila species
Journal of Insect Physiology, 1974Abstract Drosophila grisea and macroptera were collected in caves overwintering as adults. The females remained in a state of reproductive diapause which extended until May for macroptera and until July for grisea, whereas the males of both species had mature sperm at all times. Termination of the reproductive diapause under laboratory conditions was

Thermal history influences diapause development in the solitary bee Megachile rotundata
Journal of Insect Physiology, 2006Respiration rate, time to pupation and the expression patterns of selected genes were examined during the diapause to post-diapause transition in the alfalfa leafcutting bee, Megachile rotundata held at constant 4 degrees C in winter storage. Respiration quotients were at or below 0.7 from December to May and then increased to over 0.8 in June and July.

Egg development and diapause in Sardinian populations of Tortrix viridana L
2012A three-years study was carried out on egg development by several Sardinian populations of green oak leaf roller moth. In Spring 2005 coincidence between budburst and egg hatching was analyzed in two mixed oak stands of Quercus pubescens and the evergreen oaks Q. ilex and Q. suber.
