Current Nationwide Landscape of Cardiac Surgery for Children With Trisomy 18 in Japan

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite the increasing number of retrospective cohorts describing successful cardiac surgery for children with trisomy 18, no consensus has been reached among healthcare providers regarding cardiac surgery in Japan. This study provided a benchmark to facilitate consensus building by assessing a nationwide surgical database in Japan. A total of

Development, validation, and preliminary phenotypic characterization of a Col6a3 knockout mouse model targeting exon 3

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Deleting Col6a3 exon 3 by CRISPR in mice results in centralized nuclei consistent with a myopathy phenotype mimicking collagen VI‐associated human disease Abstract Background Most mutations in the COL6A3 gene lead to collagen VI‐related myopathies. This is due to a reduced expression or mislocalization of the COL6A3 protein.

Combined Dip‐Coating and Spray Coating Techniques for Modifying PVDF Membranes With PDMS and TiO2 for Photocatalytic Membrane Distillation

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Main steps of membrane modification to impart hydrophobic character and its characterization for photocatalytic vacuum membrane distillation. ABSTRACT Membrane modification or functionalization techniques are widely studied to develop membranes with tailored properties for specific applications. This work investigates the combination of two methods—dip‐

Incident shock-wave characteristics in air, argon, carbon dioxide, and helium in a shock tube with unheated helium driver [PDF]

open access: yes
Incident shock-wave velocities were measured in the Langley 6-inch expansion tube, operated as a shock tube, with air, argon, carbon dioxide, and helium as test gases. Unheated helium was used as the driver gas and most data were obtained at pressures of

Multi‐Material 3D Printing of Soft Dielectric Actuators With Optimized Electrodes

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Multi‐material fused filament fabrication is applied to fully 3D print dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs). Selected 3D printing parameters are varied to optimize the electrode yielding DEAs, which are able to undergo a maximum displacement of 91% with respect to the free length of the actuator.

Mineralized area of the human rib cross‐sections from early puberty until adulthood

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Ribs undergo numerous changes during growth and development. Although they occur both externally and internally, the latter are not as extensively documented during the transition from puberty to adulthood. Therefore, it is unknown how rib cross‐sectional mineralized area changes during this period.
