Investigation into diaphragm flexibility using shear wall
The diaphragm stiffness has a significant influence on the structural responses. Typically engineers assume those diaphragm are rigid. This assumption decreases the degree of freedom and provides easier analysis. But diaphragm damages in past earthquakes,

A rare case of thoracic diaphragmatic endometriosis invading the liver and lower lobe of the lung [PDF]
We present a case of a 47 year old female who was referred to the respiratory physicians with a cough and haemoptysis. She has also been having periodic right upper quadrant pain as well as right arm pain for the last 15 years.

Mathematical Modelling and Comparative Study of Elliptical and Circular Capacitive Pressure Microsensor [PDF]
A lot of work on clamped circular, square and rectangular shaped capacitive pressure sensor has been carried out. However, to the best of our knowledge, no elaborate work has been performed on mathematical formulation and simulation of clamped elliptical shaped capacitive pressure sensor in literature.

Design and validation of a novel dosimetry phantom for motion management audits
Abstract Background We present a novel phantom design for conducting end‐to‐end dosimetry audits for respiratory motion management of two anatomical treatment sites. The design enables radiochromic film measurements of the dose administered to the target throughout the respiratory cycle (motion‐included) and the dose delivered to the time‐averaged ...

Automated evaluation of diaphragm configuration based on chest CT in COPD patients
Background Severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) often results in hyperinflation and flattening of the diaphragm. An automated computed tomography (CT)-based tool for quantifying diaphragm configuration, a biomarker for COPD, was developed ...

Development of low frequencies, insulating thick diaphragms for power MEMS applications [PDF]
Major challenges of micro thermal machines are the thermal insulation and mechanical tolerance in the case of sliding piston. Switching from piston to membrane in microengines can alleviate the latest and lead to planar architectures. However, the thermal isolation would call for very thick structures which are associated to too high resonant ...

A novel technique for fabricating monolithic functionally graded NiTi shape memory alloy (SMA) laminated hybrid composite has been developed. An excellent metallurgical bonding can be established between two compositionally different NiTi SMAs through spark plasma sintering joining/diffusion bonding followed by hot roll bonding.
