Flexible Sensors for Robotics Tactile Perception: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Flexible tactile sensing for robotics is reviewed through four interconnected dimensions. Physical mechanisms include piezoresistive, capacitive, piezoelectric, triboelectric, iontronic, and optical sensing. Structural design includes bioinspired, defect‐based, and MEMS‐based tactile systems.

Impact of Laparoscopic Liver Resection on Long‐Term Outcomes and Non‐Liver‐Related Mortality in Elderly Patients With Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Multicenter Propensity Score‐Matched Analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
In this multicenter, propensity score–matched study of elderly patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma, we compared long‐term cause‐specific mortality between laparoscopic (LLR) and open liver resection (OLR) using a competing‐risks framework. Among patients aged ≥ 80 years, LLR was associated with a lower 5‐year cumulative incidence of death ...

Implantable Systems for Cardiovascular Treatment and Monitoring: Comparative Insights From Intracardiovascular and Extracardiovascular Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A unifying device–cardiovascular interface framework is presented to classify implantable cardiovascular technologies as intracardiovascular blood‐contacting systems or extracardiovascular tissue‐only and blood‐handling architectures. Cross‐class comparison across shared semiquantitative criteria, including blood‐contact burden, biomimicry ...

Physical Reservoir Computing Using Microelectromechanical Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
Physical reservoir computing (PRC) transforms micro‐electro‐mechanical (MEMS) sensors into intelligent computing nodes by utilizing their intrinsic nonlinear dynamics and short‐term memory effects. This review surveys recent progress in MEMS‐based reservoir computing, covering its theoretical foundations, device architectures, and applications in ...

A case of a right diaphragm rupture developed after blunt trauma [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
[Journal of Turgut Ozal Medical Center 1998;5(1):78-81]Diaphragm ruptures often develope after blunt trauma, and are on the left side in 90% of the cases. A right diaphagram rupture in which the liver was herniated from the defect is presented.

Isoform Specificity of a Compound Targeting Actin Filaments Containing Tropomyosin Tpm1.8/1.9

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The unbranched actin filaments in mammalian cells are usually composed of co‐polymers of a specific tropomyosin isoform with actin. Genetic manipulation has revealed that the tropomyosins largely define the functional properties of actin filaments in an isoform‐specific, non‐redundant manner.

A diaphragmatic hernia in a traumatic patient simulating a hemorrhage: A case report

open access: yesTrauma Case Reports, 2023
A traumatic diaphragmatic rupture occurs in approximately 5 % of all trauma cases, making diagnosis difficult. Images can be used for most diagnoses; however, some can be detected intraoperatively.

Increased Insulin Action, Glucose Metabolism and Muscle Function in Supervillin‐Knockout and Supervillin‐Mutant Mice

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We here describe mouse models with complementary homozygous Svil mutations. In skeletal muscle, Svil‐Mut mice express the Svil‐encoded N‐terminus fused to the βgal‐neo gene‐trap tag and lack the highly conserved archvillin C‐terminus; Svil‐KO mice lack expression of all known Svil‐encoded proteins; and Svil‐LoxP mice contain loxP sites for ...
