Test of extended thick-walled through-diaphragm connection to thick-walled CFT column

Steel and Composite Structures, 2016
The strength and stiffness of the steel beams to concrete-filled tubular columns connections are significantly reduced if the thick-walled components are used. However, the thick-walled tubes used for columns can largely reduce the demand for space and increase the strength-to-weight ratio.

Decline in diaphragm thickness and clinical outcomes among patients with sepsis

Heart & Lung, 2021
The decline in the diaphragm thickness is common among patients with sepsis. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the decline in diaphragm thickness as assessed by ultrasonography and various outcomes in septic patients. This prospective study included patients with sepsis whose diaphragm thickness was measured during ...

Calculation of the thickness of watertight polymer-film diaphragms

Hydrotechnical Construction, 1979
There is an unquestionable need for using theoretically substantiated and experimentally checked methods for determining the thickness of film elements when designing watertight polymer-film cutoffs. More than I0 years ago I. E. Krichevskil proposed an empirical formula for calculating the thickness of film diaphragms [1].

Ten-Micrometer-Thick Silicon Diaphragm Used in Condenser Microphone

Key Engineering Materials, 2013
Small condenser microphones with high performances are strongly demanded. This paper describes a silicon condenser microphone fabricated on silicon on insulator (SOI) substrate using only one photo mask with improved sensitivity performance. The improvements were due to reduction of the floating capacitance, thinning of the silicon diaphragm, and ...

Thick and thin diaphragms fabrication using gold-silicon eutectic

Proceedings. International Semiconductor Conference, 2003
Our experiments highlight the fact that gold-silicon (Au-Si) eutectics are fairly inert to the attack of both anisotropic and isotropic wet etchants of Si (e.g. KOH, TMAH or HF/HNO/sub 3/ solutions). Therefore, this interfacial eutectic can be used as etch-stop layers in wet etching-based bulk micromachining.

Ultrasonographic evaluation of the diaphragm thickness in patients with multiple sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders, 2019
Diaphragm weakness or dysfunction have been previously reported in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate diaphragm thickness and thickenning ratio (TR) using ultrasound in MS patients. This prospective study comprised MS patients and a control group.

Electro-acoustic transducer with variable thickness foam surfaced diaphragm

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1979
An electro-acoustic transducer having a flat sound radiating plane is disclosed, in which a voice coil bobbin having a voice coil wound around an outer circumference thereof is inserted in an air gap defined by an inner pole piece and an outer pole piece and dome-shaped diaphragm is inserted in the voice coil bobbin to define a front chamber surrounded

Impact of the crural diaphragm thickness on pulmonary function after lobectomy

Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2019
Objective The crural diaphragm is responsible for pulmonary ventilation in the early period after lobectomy. However, the role of its thickness in pulmonary ventilation remains unclear. We investigated the impact of crural diaphragm thickness on pulmonary oxygenation and gas exchange early after lobectomy. Methods We enrolled 32 patients with non-small-

Ribbon conical-central dome diaphragm with tapered thickness component

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1979
A movable coil type electroacoustic vibrating plate of rigid structure, composed of two principal parts, one being a thin-walled annular plate portion, having concentrical outer periphery and inner periphery, of substantially truncated conical configuration, and the other being a thin-walled circular dome-like plate portion for occupying the central ...

Diaphragm thickness heterogeneity at functional residual capacity and total lung capacity

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1995
One of the determinants of muscular force is the number of myofibrils in parallel, which is approximated by thickness. To better understand the heterogeneity of diaphragm thickness, we quantified the interregional and radial patterns of thickness of nine canine diaphragms rapidly perfusion fixed in situ with glutaraldehyde at functional residual ...
