A Rare Case of Chilaiditi Syndrome as a Driver of Chronic Respiratory Failure

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2025.
This case describes a 66‐year‐old woman with chronic hypercapnic and hypoxemic respiratory failure due to Chilaiditi syndrome, an uncommon complication of bowel interposition between the liver and diaphragm. Her course was refractory to noninvasive ventilation and conservative bowel regimens, ultimately proving fatal.

Tension pneumothorax on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation leading to significant pneumoperitoneum. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Veno-venous and veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy is used to support the cardiac and pulmonary systems in the setting of acute failure. Maintaining adequate ECMO flow is crucial for the success of the therapy.

Pulmonary Function Outcomes in Children Undergoing Diaphragmatic Plication After Phrenic Nerve Palsy Secondary to Cardiac Surgery: A 10‐Year Case Series

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 10, October 2025.
This 10‐year retrospective case series evaluated mid‐term pulmonary outcomes in children who underwent diaphragmatic plication for phrenic nerve palsy following cardiac surgery. The results reveal a restrictive ventilatory pattern and consistent post‐exercise oxygen desaturation, despite preserved functional walking capacity.
