Comparison of Radiography and Ultrasonography for Diagnosis of Diaphragmatic Hernia in Bovines
The present study was conducted on 101 animals suffering from thoracoabdominal disorders; out of which twenty seven animals (twenty six buffaloes and one cow) were diagnosed with diaphragmatic hernia based on clinical signs, radiography, ultrasonography,

Thoracoscopic repair of diaphragmatic hernia following ventricular assist device implantation
Background Diaphragmatic hernia is a rare complication of ventricular assist device (VAD), mainly developing after explantation of the device. We herein report a case of diaphragmatic hernia that developed following the implantation of VAD.

Crossover from reptation to Rouse dynamics in a one-dimensional model [PDF]
A simple one-dimensional model is constructed for polymer motion. It exhibits the crossover from reptation to Rouse dynamics through gradually allowing hernia creation and annihilation. The model is treated by the density matrix technique which permits an accurate finite-size-scaling analysis of the behavior of long polymers.

Laparoscopic repair of recurrent traumatic diaphragmatic hernia
Laparoscopic repair of recurrent diaphragmatic hernia is infrequently reported. We report successful laparoscopic management of such a case in a 23-year-old male who presented with recurrent vomiting and hiccoughs.

Pulmonary hypertension associated with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is a critical factor in determining prognosis. We propose that intra-amniotic sildenafil administration is an effective prenatal therapy for CDH-induced pulmonary hypertension ...

Gel-Electrophoresis and Diffusion of Ring-Shaped DNA [PDF]
A model for the motion of ring-shaped DNA in a gel is introduced and studied by numerical simulations and a mean-field approximation. The ring motion is mediated by finger-shaped loops (hernias) that move in an amoeba-like fashion around the gel obstructions. This constitutes an extension of previous reptation tube treatments.

Learning Invariant Representation of Tasks for Robust Surgical State Estimation [PDF]
Surgical state estimators in robot-assisted surgery (RAS) - especially those trained via learning techniques - rely heavily on datasets that capture surgeon actions in laboratory or real-world surgical tasks. Real-world RAS datasets are costly to acquire, are obtained from multiple surgeons who may use different surgical strategies, and are recorded ...

In this nationwide inpatient database study of 5229 patients aged 70–79 years who underwent esophagectomy for cancer after neoadjuvant chemotherapy, overlap propensity score weighting analysis showed that neoadjuvant docetaxel‐based triplet regimen (docetaxel, cisplatin, and 5‐fluorouracil) was not associated with a higher incidence of perioperative ...

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia
Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is a congenital anomaly consisting of a posterolateral defect in the diaphragm also known as a Bochdalek hernia. It occurs in 1 in 2000 to 3000 newborns and is associated with a variable degree of pulmonary hypoplasia (PH) and persistent pulmonary hypertension (PPH).
