The large-scale surface uplift in the Altiplano-Puna region of Bolivia: A parametric study of source characteristics and crustal rheology using finite element analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper focuses on the driving mechanism behind a 70 km wide region of ground uplift centered on Uturuncu volcano, in the Altiplano-Puna region of southern Bolivia.

THE EVOLUTION OF THE SALT LAKES FROM OCNA ŞUGATAG BETWEEN RISK AND CAPITALIZATION [PDF]

open access: yesRiscuri şi Catastrofe, 2015
The diapir anticline microdepression of Ocna Şugatag underwent an accelerated transformation immediately after the end of salt mining (at the beginning of the 1960s).

Jahani Salt Diapir, Iran: hydrogeology, karst features and effect on surroundings environment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Speleology, 2017
The Jahani Salt Diapir (JSD), with an area of 54 km2, is an active diapir in the Simply Folded Belt of the Zagros Orogeny, in the south of Iran. Most of the available studies on this diapir are focused on tectonics.

A Hydrogeophysical Survey Utilising the sTEM and sTEMprofiler Systems: Transient Electromagnetic Data and Resistivity Models

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 13, Issue 2, April 2026.
We present a transient electromagnetic dataset from northwestern Denmark acquired with the novel sTEMprofiler system, mapping buried Quaternary valleys. The open dataset, including raw data and resistivity models, enables benchmarking of inversion methods and integration into geological and hydrological studies. ABSTRACT Transient electromagnetic (TEM)

Reservoir leakage along concentric faults in the Southern North Sea: implications for the deployment of CCS and EOR techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
High-quality 3D seismic and borehole data in the Broad Fourteens Basin, Southern North Sea, is used to investigate newly recognised concentric faults formed in salt-withdrawal basins flanking reactivated salt structures.

Coesite Discovery in Eclogites Confirms UHP Metamorphism in the Orlica‐Śnieżnik Dome (SW Poland)

open access: yesJournal of Metamorphic Geology, Volume 44, Issue 3, Page 200-225, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Eclogite lenses are exposed within the orthogneiss‐dominated core of the Orlica‐Śnieżnik Dome in the Sudetes, which forms the northeastern margin of the Bohemian Massif (Variscan Belt of Central Europe). The presence of coesite inclusions in garnet and omphacite confirms that these eclogites underwent ultrahigh‐pressure metamorphism.

Tourmaline records the hydrothermal events related to Zn-Pb mineralization around the Murguía diapir (Basque Cantabrian Basin, N Spain)

open access: yesGeologica Acta, 2019
The chemical composition of tourmaline has been used as a host environment register as well as a potential exploration tool for mineral deposits. In this study, the textural and chemical composition of tourmalines associated with Zn-Pb mineralizations ...

Geochemical and Seismic Constraints on the Role of Mud Diapirs in Petroleum Migration and Accumulation in the Recôncavo Basin, NE Brazil

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Geology, Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 433-447, April 2026.
ABSTRACT In the Recôncavo Basin, Northeast of Brazil, mud diapirs have been reported for decades, but their role within the basin's petroleum system remains poorly constrained. Here, we combine 2D seismic interpretation, field observations, and organic geochemical analyses of rocks and oil seeps to investigate the relationship between diapirism and ...

Geodynamic Modeling With Uncertain Initial Geometries

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2022
Geodynamic codes have become fast and efficient enough to facilitate sensitivity analysis of rheological parameters. With sufficient data, they can even be inverted for.

3D Quantification of Subsidence During Pyrenean Retro‐Wedge Initiation: Role of Structural and Thermal Inheritance on Hyperextended Margin Inversion (Aquitaine Basin)

open access: yesTerra Nova, Volume 38, Issue 2, Page 130-140, April 2026.
ABSTRACT We present novel 3D subsidence data enabling vertical movements' quantification during the early formation of the Pyrenean retro‐wedge. From Cenomanian to Turonian times, subsidence is relatively low (~26 ± 10 m/Myr), corresponding to a brief 10 Myr thermal re‐equilibration of the European lithosphere following the hyperextended rift episode ...
