Abstract Numerous abandoned wells in the North Sea may provide gas, particularly methane (CH4), migration pathways by penetrating shallow, biogenic gas accumulations. However, related sampling campaigns have been largely contradictory and lack a substantial database. Research cruise MSM98 targeted the abandoned wells B18‐1, DOK 1‐X, B11‐2, THOR and D‐1

Post‐Miocene Transtensional Opening of the Northern Red Sea
Abstract The mechanism of opening, as well as the crustal characteristics of the northern Red Sea are subject of ongoing controversial scientific debate. With the objective of elucidating the nature of rifting in this area, a grid of 2D multi‐channel reflection seismic data was acquired off the Al Wajh carbonate platform (AWCP), and supplemented by ...

Abstract Understanding the recent tectonic activity of buried faults represents a challenge for scientists. In the offshore portion of the Northern and Central Apennines foredeep basin in the Central Adriatic Sea, Italy, high sedimentation rates, exceeding tectonic uplift since the Pliocene, and the offshore location are hampering the detection of ...

Abstract In the northwestern Gulf of Mexico, gravity‐driven contractional deformation is recorded across the Salina del Bravo, the Perdido and Peripheral fold belts, and the Mexican Cordilleras. Integrating seismic interpretation, structural mapping, and analysis, we examine the spatial and temporal partitioning of shortening above three principal ...

Timing of the Albano‐Hellenic Paleomagnetic Rotation
Abstract The Aegean arc is the most prominent Mediterranean salient, characterized by significant paleomagnetic rotations along its limbs. Although it is well‐established that the external Ionian and Kruja zones of the Albano‐Hellenides underwent a ∼40° post‐Oligocene clockwise (CW) rotation relative to Africa/Adria, the rotation timing remains debated.

Abstract Deep fluid advection fundamentally governs the thermal‐fluid‐chemical evolution and distribution of hydrate‐cold seep systems. However, coupled relationships between deep fluid and shallow multiphase dynamics remain inadequately constrained.

Abstract Salt tectonics has received little attention in the Middle Atlas, despite the widespread occurrence of Triassic evaporites and their potential to exert first‐order control on basin architecture and deformation. This study presents the first integrated analysis of polyphase salt tectonics in the Middle Atlas, focusing on the Oum Er‐Rbia sector,

Mud diapirs and associated intrusion structures in the Miocene Tanabe Group
