The rostral structure of thalattosaurs is reviewed on the basis of a re-investigation of the holotype of Nectosaurus halius and Thalattosaurus alexandrae. The askeptosaurid genera Askeptosaurus and Anshunsaurus share an elongated, parallel-sided rostrum that terminates in a blunt tip.
