Investigation of Potential Risks in Bio‐Based Food Contact Materials (FCMs) From Microbial Exploitation of Agricultural Wastes: Case Studies of Bacterial Cellulose and Nisin

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT In the context of the circular economy and the increasing demand for safe and sustainable packaging, this work addresses the safety assessment of food contact materials (FCMs) derived from agro‐industrial by‐products. Despite growing interest in these bio‐based materials, the literature still lacks a structured safety‐assessment framework able

Microglial reactivity and nodule formation are associated with Synaptodendritic damage in the brains of people with HIV‐1

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 36, Issue 3, May 2026.
Despite effective ART, neurocognitive impairment persists in people with HIV. Brains from PWH present exacerbated microgliosis and formation of microglial nodules that are actively engaged in neuronal phagocytosis, resulting in neuronal injury and dendritic loss.

A Potential Novel Molecular Interaction in Bronchiolitis Obliterans Syndrome in Lung Transplantation Patients: The Role of SERPINA3 and Osteoprotegerin

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 8, 30 April 2026.
Serum SERPINA3 levels were higher in BOS compared to non‐BOS patients. OPG and SERPINA3 positive cells colocalized with tryptase positive mast cells in airways from BOS lung tissue. OPG and SERPINA3 staining positively correlated in partially and completely obstructed airways.

O polietilenoglicol aumenta a penetração do vírus da diarréia viral bovina, do vírus da estomatite vesicular e do vírus sincicial respiratório bovino em células de cultivo Polyethylene glycol increases the penetration of bovine viral diarrhea virus, vesicular stomatitis virus and bovine respiratory syncytial virus in cultured cells

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2009
A baixa eficiência de penetração de alguns vírus em células de cultivo pode representar uma dificuldade para o isolamento e a multiplicação viral in vitro.
