Applying thermal therapy: Comparison of different commercially available heating devices to increase muscle temperature

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Although various medical devices are available for the purpose of heat therapy, their effect on muscle temperature remains unclear. This study compared the effects of a water‐perfused suit (WPS), short‐wave diathermy (SWD) and hot‐water immersion (HWI) on muscle, core and skin temperatures, along with perceived thermal discomfort.

Heat treatment combined with hybrid exercises retraining mitigates cellular markers of protein turnover after hindlimb suspension in male mice: A pilot study

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Recent evidence suggests that heat treatment (HT) and resistance training can limit skeletal muscle mass loss during immobilization. However, the effects of repeated HT sessions combined with hybrid exercises (EX), which promote both endurance and resistance responses, on muscle protein turnover following hindlimb unloading (HU) remain ...

Effect of repeated hot water immersion on muscle strength, power, function and physical activity in healthy older adults: A randomised crossover trial

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Ageing leads to an increased prevalence of sarcopenia and frailty, characterised by progressive declines in muscle strength, power and function and reduced physical activity. Hot water immersion (HWI) could potentially improve muscle function, but this is yet to be explored in older adults.

Clinical Rationale for Procedural Steps When Performing Non‐Incisional Nail Surgery: A Scoping Review

open access: yesJournal of Foot and Ankle Research, Volume 19, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Non‐incisional nail surgery is a common surgical procedure performed by clinicians, however, there is considerable variation relating to decision‐making for procedure choice, surgical technique, and clinical rationale to inform practice.

Double Axillary Vein During Axillary Lymph Node Dissection for Breast Cancer

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Clinical significance of Double axillary vein is often minimal; however, it can be of concern in surgical procedures, particularly those involving axillary dissection. Injury to one of the veins could lead to severe bleeding or venous congestion, complicating the surgical outcome. Therefore, surgeons should be aware of this variation.

Early Pre‐Rupture Diagnosis of Live Heterotopic Pregnancy Using Transvaginal Ultrasound, With Successful Laparoscopic Management and Preservation of the Intrauterine Pregnancy

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Heterotopic pregnancy, though rare, should be suspected in early pregnancy with abdominal pain or bleeding, even when an intrauterine pregnancy is confirmed. Prompt transvaginal ultrasound and timely laparoscopic management are essential to prevent life‐threatening complications and preserve the intrauterine pregnancy.

Transoral Robotic Surgery Versus Traditional Lingual Tonsillectomy for Persistent Pediatric Sleep Apnea

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives This study compares postoperative outcomes of transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and traditional lingual tonsillectomy in pediatric patients with persistent obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) following tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy (T&A).
