Changes in food‐web pathways and ecosystem functions after sidearm re‐connection in a large river (Danube, Austria)

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction River regulation schemes generally led to changes in riverine assemblage composition and their trophic status, which often is reflected in a general loss or decrease of characteristic species and a concomitant increase or dominance of generalist species.

Activating and Stabilizing Lattice Oxygen in Spinel NiCo2O4 through F, Mn Dual Doping for Rechargeable Zinc–Air Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
This study exploited the substitution doping of Mn and F in NiCo2O4 to activate and stabilize lattice oxygen, achieving a stable synergistic effect between AEM and LOM to enhance the intrinsic activity of the catalyst. The outstanding bifunctional properties enable its application as an anode catalyst in zinc–air batteries.

Decadal Bowhead Whale Baleen Stable Isotope and Hormone Chronologies (1985–2010) Provide Insight Into Arctic Ecosystem Change

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology Communications, Volume 1, Issue 3, September 2026.
Long‐term chronologies constructed from individual bowhead baleen plates reveal stable isotope declines consistent with regional Arctic food web or productivity changes superimposed on global anthropogenic C and N inputs, while relatively stable hormone concentrations over the same period provide no evidence of a concomitant increase in physiological ...
