From polarized to polarimetric Raman spectroscopy

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
Raman spectroscopy is widely used in many areas of research and technology such as chemical analysis and material properties characterization. “Classic” Raman spectroscopy traditionally neglecting the polarization-of-light aspect, polarized Raman ...

Roadmap on Weak Measurements in Optics

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, Volume 4, Issue 4, April 2025.
Quantum weak measurements have attracted considerable recent attention for both addressing fundamental questions in quantum mechanics and for numerous potential applications. This review aims to compile both the fundamental aspects and the ongoing metrological applications of weak measurements in the domain of quantum and classical optics in a concise ...

Interplay of Circularly Polarized Light with Molecular and Structural Chirality: Chiral Lanthanide Complexes and Cellulose Nanocrystals

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 12, Issue 34, December 3, 2024.
The interplay between the highly polarized luminesce of Eu chiral complexes, and the polarization selective reflection of the chiral nematic structures provided by cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) films is shown in this contribution. Abstract The interaction of circularly polarized (CP) light with chiral matter at different scales opens several ...

Nonlocality Enhanced Precision in Quantum Polarimetry via Entangled Photons

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, Volume 7, Issue 11, November 2024.
A quantum polarimetry method using entangled photons to improve measurement precision is introduced. By calculating precision bounds and estimating the rotation angle of optical elements, both theoretically and experimentally, it is shown that the capability of entanglement to enhance accuracy is diminished with noise.

Reversible Single‐Pulse Laser‐Induced Phase Change of Sb2S3 Thin Films: Multi‐Physics Modeling and Experimental Demonstrations

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 12, Issue 28, October 4, 2024.
The reversible laser‐induced phase transition of Sb2S3 is investigated, focusing specifically on the mechanisms that drive the optical amorphization, with multi‐physics considerations including optical and thermal properties of the PCM and its environment.

Printed Liquid Crystal Optical Vortex Beam Generators

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 12, Issue 20, July 16, 2024.
This paper demonstrates a switchable optical vortex beam generator using printed liquid crystal (LC) droplets. Results are presented that show the generation of both vortex and vector beams by altering the polarization of the input light. Experiments are supported by simulations that reveal the spatial profile of the director in the LC droplets and the

Wide‐field Mueller matrix polarimetry for spectral characterization of basic biological tissues: Muscle, fat, connective tissue, and skin

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, Volume 17, Issue 1, January 2024.
Through Mueller matrix imaging, this study investigates skin, muscle, connective tissue, and fat's polarimetric properties. It compares their characteristics and how they change with wavelength, including during meat aging. In‐vivo and ex‐vivo experiments reveal wavelength‐driven tissue property variations, notably significant in depolarization effects.

Polarimetry of light scattered by surface roughness and textured films and periodic structures in nanotechnologies: a new challenge in instrumentation and modeling

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
Exhaustive studies in the literature detail the Mueller matrices properties through decomposition, optical entropy and depolarization formalism. It has been applied for many years in rather different fields. In radar polarimetry, mathematical basis of

The CHARA Array Polarization Model and Prospects for Spectropolarimetry

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Polarimetric data provide key insights into infrared emission mechanisms in the inner disks of young stellar objects (YSOs) and the details of dust formation around asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars. While polarization measurements are well-established

Development of a linear diattenuation sensitive semi-autonomous and portable digital lensless holographic microscope

open access: yes, 2023
This document presents the development of a linear diattenuation sensitive, semi-autonomous and portable digital lensless holographic microscope (DLHM). With the development of this project, we aim to improve the performance of this microscopy technique and to broaden the possibilities for a portable DLHM device.
