Aromatic Metamorphosis of Dibenzothiophenes

Synlett, 2016
In general, aromatic cores are stable owing to their resonance energies. Different from facile peripheral modifications of aromatic cores, transforming an aromatic core into a different skeleton is ambitious and has attracted only little attention as a general synthetic method.

Electronic spectra of dibenzothiophene

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular Spectroscopy, 1971
Abstract The polarized absorption spectrum of dibenzothiophene near 330 nm has been measured in the pure crystal and in host lattices of fluorene, hexamethylbenzene, biphenyl and (polycrystalline) n-heptane. The assignment 1A1 ← 1A1 is confirmed for this electronic transition.

Synthesis and Lanthanide Coordination Chemistry of Phosphine Oxide Decorated Dibenzothiophene and Dibenzothiophene Sulfone Platforms

Inorganic Chemistry, 2014
Syntheses for new ligands based upon dibenzothiophene and dibenzothiophene sulfone platforms, decorated with phosphine oxide and methylphosphine oxide donor groups, are described. Coordination chemistry of 4,6-bis(diphenylphosphinoylmethyl)dibenzothiophene (8), 4,6-bis(diphenylphosphinoylmethyl)dibenzothiophene-5,5-dioxide (9) and 4,6-bis ...

SYNTHESIS OF 2,3,7,8-TETRAKIS- (ALKYLTHIO)DIBENZOTHIOPHENES AND STRUCTURE OF 2,3,7,8-TETRAKIS- (METHYLTHIO)DIBENZOTHIOPHENE

Phosphorus, Sulfur, and Silicon and the Related Elements, 1996
Abstract Bis[2-Iithio-4,5-(dialkylthio)phenyl]sulfides, obtained from the corresponding dibromo compounds 5 and butyllithium, are oxidized by cupric chloride to the tetrakis(alkylthio)dibenzothiophenes 4, the 1H-NMR and MS data of which are reported. Furthermore, an X-ray analysis of 4a has been carried out, showing a columnar structure for the solid ...

Kinetics of dibenzothiophene hydrodesulfurization

Journal of Catalysis, 1991
Hydrotreating is a process in which organically bound sulfur and nitrogen compounds are removed from petroleum feedstocks to produce processible, stable, and environmentally acceptable liquid fuels or lubes. Essentially two types of catalysts, which differ in composition, are in use in current refineries: one is sulfided CoO-MoO{sub 3}/{gamma}-Al{sub 2}

Bidentate phosphines of heteroarenes: 1,9-bis(diphenylphosphino)-dibenzothiophene and 4,6-bis(diphenylphosphino)dibenzothiophene

Tetrahedron Letters, 1993
Abstract Twofold lithiation of dibenzothiophene with n-butyllithium and N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) in boiling n-heptane followed by reaction with chlorodiphenylphosphine (Ph 2 PCl) yielded the title compounds 2 (colourless) and 3 (yellow).

The thermodynamic properties of dibenzothiophene

The Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 1991
Measurements leading to the calculation of the ideal-gas thermodynamic properties for dibenzothiophene are reported. Thermochemical and thermophysical properties were determined by adiabatic heat-capacity calorimetry, differential-scanning calorimetry (d.s.c.), comparative ebulliometry, and inclined-piston manometry.

Oxidation of dibenzothiophene byCunninghamella elegans

Current Microbiology, 1990
The metabolism of dibenzothiophene (DBT) by the catabolically versatile fungusCunninghamella elegans (ATCC 36112) was investigated. This fungus has been previously shown to metabolize polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons including nitropolycyclic aromatics, but has not been shown to metabolize DBT. The results show thatC.
