Rupture of the uterus with DIC
Annals of Emergency Medicine, 1983Rupture of the uterus is an uncommon obstetric emergency that usually occurs after 36 weeks gestation in a woman with a previous cesarean section. Complete rupture of the uterus with extrusion of the fetus into the peritoneal cavity is associated with high fetal mortality and with hypovolemic shock in the mother.

Intensive Care Medicine, 1983
Because DIC is most likely to occur in patients who are already critically ill from some other disorder, it is not uncommon in the intensive care unit. The wide variation in causes and clinical manifestations has meant that controlled trials of therapy would be extremely problematical.

Animal models of DIC and their relevance to human DIC: A systematic review
Thrombosis Research, 2011Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is a severe clinical condition with activation of coagulation and fibrinolysis. Its diagnosis is based on the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) scoring system of DIC. Animal models of DIC, used to investigate pathophysiology and evaluate treatments, have not been developed in a ...

Experimentally Induced DIC — DIC as a Cause of MOF
1993Gram-negative septicemia remains a serious cause of mortality (Carrico et al. 1986) and is often associated with disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) (Effeney et al. 1978; Siegal et al. 1978; Spero et al. 1980; Edgington 1990; Linares 1990). Autopsy revealed sepsis and DIC in 74% of burn patients, while multiorgan failure (MOF) and DIC were ...

DIC: Identification and Management
Hospital Practice, 1982That a thromboplastic insult is always the triggering mechanism in DIC is a tidy, but almost certainly inaccurate, notion.

Critical Care Nurse, 1990
Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is not a disease but an abnormal syndrome that is always secondary to another process. Because its symptomatology is varied and subtle, frequent assessments of body systems must be conducted. This article and its plan of care are designed to assist the nurse in the effective management of the DIC patient.

In the development of sepsis DIC is a common complication. Several studies presented in this paper show a coincidence between the development of DIC and depletion of Antithrombin III, a serine protease inhibitor which inhibits a large scale of activated clotting factors.

Disseminated intravascular coagulopathy is relatively uncommon though it may develop in various states during pregnancy. Once DIC becomes apparent, the patient demands expert medical management and skilled nursing care. Attention is given to changes in blood coagulation which occur, to the etiology, to alternative approaches to medical management, and ...

DIC (DIGITAL IMAGE CORRELATION) METHOD IN THE RESEARCH OF RC BEAMS STRENGTHENED WITH PBOFRCM MATERIALS. The article presents tests of a reinforced concrete beam strengthened in a shear with PBO-FRCM composite materials. Measurement of the deformation of the composite was carried out using two methods - with strain gauges and the optical DIC method ...
