Localized damage analysis for high strength S960 steel using micro-tensile testing and digital image correlation

open access: yesUbiquity Proceedings, 2018
In-situ interrupted tensile tests combined with Digital Image Correlation (DIC) were performed on S960 hot rolled steel to identify damage initiation on the surface of the sample. Shear bands and damage initiation and evolution in the microstructure were

Meniscus‐Guided Soft‐Lithographic Assembly of Grid‐Type Molecular Martensite Films for Single‐Crystal‐Like Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A meniscus‐guided microtransfer molding strategy enables scalable fabrication of grid‐type molecular martensite films with b‐axis‐correlated preferential texture. Sequential growth across microchannel intersections creates structurally continuous grids and robust thermoelastic actuation (∼11% strain, > 50 cycles, maximum force density: 7.1 × 109 N m−3).

Mineral Deposition From Liquid Precursors Triggered by Complementary Polyelectrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polyelectrolyte additives can delay or prevent crystal nucleation in supersaturated solutions of insoluble mineral salts such as calcium carbonate. This work reports that adding a second, oppositely‐charged polyelectrolyte leads to immediate mineral crystallization from such metastable solutions.

Sulfation‐Tunable Peptide‐Glycosaminoglycan Hydrogels for Hematopoietic Stem and Progenitor Cell Expansion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Co‐assembly of rationally designed glycosaminoglycan‐binding peptides with sulfated glycosaminoglycans yields supramolecular hydrogels with tunable mechanics and matrix‐mediated cytokine retention. The glycosaminoglycans thereby act as cofactors, driving a coil‐to‐β‐sheet transition that triggers gelation.

Development of a spirulina feed effective only for the two larval stages of Schistosoma mansoni, not the intermediate host mollusc

open access: yesTropical Medicine and Health
Background Schistosomiasis control relies primarily on mass drug administration with praziquantel. However, persistent reinfection and high treatment costs remain significant challenges.

Prevalence of HIV, HBV, and HCV infections and high-risk behaviors among women referred to drop-in centers of Lorestan province, western Iran. [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Razi Institute
HIV, HBV, and HCV are known as the most common blood-borne viral infections worldwide. Individuals referring to drop-in centers (DICs) are considered as high-risk people exposed to infection with theses blood-borne viruses.

Cellular Responses to Mechanical Cues Across Scales: From Fundamental Insights to Translational Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...

A 3D‐Printed Vascular‐Like Perfusion Tumor‐on‐a‐Chip Recapitulates High‐Grade Breast Cancer With in Vivo‐Relevant Drug Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐resolution 3D‐printed tumor‐on‐a‐chip platform sustains breast cancer tissues at in vivo–like cell densities through vascular‐like perfusion. This engineered system recapitulates grade‐dependent molecular features and exhibits drug‐resistance profiles that uniquely align with clinically relevant Cmax values.
