Confinement Effects on the RhIIICp* / Polyoxometalate System in Photochemical CO2 Reduction Reactions: Porous Organic Polymer Versus Metal–Organic Framework

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 5, 13 March 2026.
Confining of the same catalytic polyoxometalate (POM) – pentamethylcyclopentadienyl rhodium (RhIIICp*) system in either MOF or POP causes a change in POM's role from electron reservoir to proton relay in photochemical CO2 reduction reaction. The detailed structure of the heterogenized POM‐RhIIICp* system is established by dedicated NMR techniques and ...

Particle Size Effects in Au/TiO2 Catalysts for the Oxidation of 5‐Hydroxymethylfurfural

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, 27 March 2026.
The oxidation of 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to 2,5‐furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA), important for bio‐based polymer production, is an excellent model reaction to study selective oxidation performance. We investigate the gold particle size effect in the oxidation of HMF and HMFCA to FDCA.

Green Synthesis of Poly(ε‐caprolactone) Using Environmentally Benign Organic Acid Catalysts: A Sustainable, Metal‐Free, and Solvent‐Free Route to Ring‐Opening Polymerization

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 3, March 2026.
Ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone was performed at 100°C under solvent‐free conditions using catalysts of various environmentally benign organic acids. The reaction rate was correlated with the pKa of the catalysts, and 1H NMR confirmed initiator‐derived chain ends.

Practical Applications of Secondary/Extractive Electrospray Ionization (SESI): A Versatile Tool for Real‐Time Chemical Analysis

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, Volume 45, Issue 2, Page 392-428, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT In the 1980s, researchers discovered the remarkable ability of electrospray plumes to effectively ionize gas‐phase molecules via secondary ionization. Around 20 years later—coinciding with the ambient mass spectrometry revolution—secondary electrospray ionization (SESI) and extractive electrospray ionization (EESI) coupled to mass spectrometry
