Mycochemical Diversity and Therapeutic Potential of Hymenochaetoid Fungi from Central Asia: Regional and Global Perspectives

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Botany, Volume 64, Issue 1, March 2026.
Central Asia harbors a rich yet understudied assemblage of wood‐inhabiting Hymenochaetoid fungi. This review delivers the first comprehensive synthesis of 43 poroid species representing 18 genera documented across montane forests, steppes, and xeric habitats.

Hydroxyapatite dissolution kinetics: The effects of molecular configurations of six carboxylic acids

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 90, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Abstract Phosphorus (P) availability in calcareous soils is limited by the low solubility of calcium phosphate minerals, such as hydroxyapatite (HAP). Carboxylic acid‐promoted dissolution of HAP is well‐known. However, it is not clearly understood how the composition and orientation of functional groups (e.g., carboxyl and β‐hydroxyl group) in ...

f‐Block Element‐Based MOF Thin Films: A Platform for Luminescence, Sensing, and Energy Applications

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 16, 17 March 2026.
f‐Block element–based metal–organic framework (f‐MOF) thin films offer exceptional potential for luminescent, sensing, and energy‐related applications. This review surveys recent progress in their synthesis, characterization, and functional implementation, emphasizing the diversity of available thin‐film fabrication strategies. The convergence of these

Additives for Aluminum‐Air Batteries: A Review

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 16, 17 March 2026.
The role of electrolyte additives in Al–air batteries is investigated by focusing on their capacity to moderate Al corrosion rates, inhibit self‐discharge, and prevent surface barrier formation. Additives present in organic, inorganic, and hybrid categories, which regulate the Al–electrolyte interface by forming protective films on the Al surface ...

Controllable Modulation of Interactive Site Spacing in Porous Coordination Cages: A Key to Substantial Synergistic Catalysis Enhancement

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
This work presents a ligand‐engineering strategy to controllable program the spatial proximity between Brønsted acidic (μ4–H2O) and basic (–NH2) sites within isostructural calixarene‐based Co4 cages. Reducing the intersite distance from 12.4 Å to 5.6 Å leads to a nonlinear surge in Knoevenagel condensation activity.

Methylmalonic Acid, an Aging‐Associated Metabolite, Accelerates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Inducing Disc Vascularization via the CCL7/JAK2‐STAT3/VEGF Signaling Axis

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 3, March 2026.
Our study reveals that elevated MMA in aged intervertebral discs promotes degeneration by activating the CCL7/JAK2‐STAT3/VEGF signaling axis, which drives pathological vascularization. Therapeutically, the VEGFR inhibitor lenvatinib attenuated this process, identifying disc vascularization as a promising therapeutic target for IVDD.
