Synthesis of 14C-Labeled Isomers of Dichlorodiphenyldichloroethanes(DDD)
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 19661,1-Dichloro-2-( o -chlorophenyl)-2-( p -chlorophenyl- 14 C)ethane( o , p ′-DDD- 14 C), 1,1-sichlora-2-( m -chlorophenyl)-2-( p -chlorophenyl- 14 C)ethne(m, P′-DDD- 14 C) and 1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis-( p -chlorophenyl- 14 C)ethane( p , p′-DDD- 14 C) were synthesized by acid catalyzed condensation of chlorobenzene- 14 C with excess 2,2-dichloro-l-( o -, m

Dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane (DDE) adipose tissue level has been regarded as a preferred indicator of accumulated human exposure to DDT; however, blood sera are more feasible to obtain and analyze than adipose tissue samples. Inconsistent and scarce information exists in relation to the adipose tissue/serum DDE ratio.

To identify the determinants of p,p'-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane (p,p'-DDE) in adipose tissue in subjects who participated in a cross-sectional study, we analyzed fatty acids, antioxidants, and p,p'-DDE in aspirates of adipose tissue of 328 postmenopausal women from 5 European countries.

The effect of o, p'-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane (DDD), a compound inducing atrophy of the adrenal cortex and blocking steroid production, on glutathione reductase activity was studied. As a result of feeding dogs with DDD in a dose of 50 mg/kg body weight for 14 days activation of glutathione reducatase took place in the homogenate, cytoplasmic ...

Abstract The organochlorine o,p′- dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane (o,p′-DDD) is a metabolite of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT), known for its adrenolytic actions in birds and mammals. The effects of o,p′-DDD on the cortisol stress response were investigated in rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss, in a dose-response study in vivo.

Abstract Two studies investigated the accumulation and reproductive effects of p,p′-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane (DDE) and dieldrin over 30 or 120 d of oral exposure in captive Florida, USA, largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides floridanus). The 30-d exposures were conducted during the peak reproductive season, and the 120-d study was

[The enzymatic degradation of DDT. 4. Degradation of DDD (dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane)].
Die Nahrung, 1985DDD is formed from DDT by reductive dechlorination. After application of DDD to rats the dechlorination product DDMU could be detected only after short exposures in the organs, in high concentrations, however, permanently in the faeces. The distribution of DDD in the organism of the rats is studied.

Glutathione reductase is activated by o,p'-dichlorodiphenyldichlorethane (o,p'-DDD) and pertan added in a concentration of 312 micrometer to the homogenate and cytoplasmic fraction of the dog adrenals. At a concentration of 156 micrometer o,p'-DDD and pertan failed to influence the glutathione reductase activity of the dog adrenal glands.

[The effect of o,p'-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane on malic enzyme activity of the adrenal glands].
Voprosy meditsinskoi khimii, 1985Activity of malate enzymes was studied in human, dog, guinea pig, rat and cattle adrenal glands. The malate enzymes were inhibited in dog adrenal glands after feeding of the animals with 1,1-dichloro-2-(o-chlorophenyl)-2-(p-chlorophenyl)-ethane (o, p-DDD, chloditane, mitotane).

SUMMARY The synthesis of glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids in vitro was studied in an adrenocortical carcinoma after ablation from an 11·5-year-old boy. This patient had been unsuccessfully treated with high doses of o,p′-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane (o,p′-DDD) and aminoglutethimide.
