Human Health Risk of Organochlorine Pesticides in Foods Grown in Nigeria

open access: yesJournal of Health and Pollution, 2017
Background. Production of foods safe for consumption is an important issue worldwide. Organochlorine pesticides (OCP) are often used to preserve crops. Their use can have serious impacts on human health. Objectives.

Pesticide residues in the water and fish (lagoon tilapia) samples from lagoons in Ghana

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Ethiopia, 2009
This study was to ascertain the presence and subsequent amount of four organochlorine pesticides: dichlorodiphenyl dichloroethylene (2,4’-DDE), 4,4’-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane (4,4’-DDD), p,p’-dichloro- diphenyltrichloroethane [p,p’-DDT (r) (i) (f ...

[Action of O,N'-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane (O,N'-DDD) on adrenal cortical ATPase].

open access: yesProblemy endokrinologii, 1978
The action of the inhibitor of the adrenal gland function of dogs--o,n'-DDD--on ATP-ases was studied experimentally. In a concentration of 0.2--1.0 mM o,n'-DDD inhibited the Na+, K+. Mg2+-ATP-ases of the homogenate, and also the mitochondrial and microsomal fractions of the dog adrenal cortex.

[Decrease in the intensity of the EPR cytochrome P-450, adrenodoxine and free radical signals in the adrenal cortex of dogs under the effect of o,p-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane].

open access: yesProblemy endokrinologii, 1984
A study was made of the action of the adrenocorticolytic drug chloditane (o.p'-DDD) on the content of cytochrome P-450 adrenodoxine and free radicals in the dog adrenal cortex. After a single feeding of 50 mg/kg bw o.p'-DDD EPR signals with xi-factors 2.25, 1.94 and 2.00 reduced 30-40%.
