The Conserved Guanyl‐Specific Ribonuclease T1 Effector EC19 Is Required for Full Virulence of the Vascular Wilt Fungus Fusarium oxysporum on Tomato

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 9, September 2026.
EC19, a secreted ribonuclease T1 effector from Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici (Fol), is required for tomato wilt virulence. EC19‐overexpressing tomato lines display increased susceptibility to Fol and altered transcriptional changes associated with plant hormone signal transduction, plant–pathogen interaction, and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis ...

Complete Genome Sequence of Dickeya oryzae Strain A5272 Isolated During Pineapple Heart Rot Outbreak in Hawaii

open access: yesPhytoFrontiers
The complete genome of Dickeya oryzae strain A5272, isolated from a 2004 pineapple heart rot outbreak in Hawaii, was sequenced using PacBio RSII. The strain was linked to the pineapple propagative material imported from Costa Rica and Honduras.

Diversity of Pectobacteriaceae Species in Potato Growing Regions in Northern Morocco

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2020
Dickeya and Pectobacterium pathogens are causative agents of several diseases that affect many crops worldwide. This work investigated the species diversity of these pathogens in Morocco, where Dickeya pathogens have only been isolated from potato fields

Biocontrol of Soft Rot Dickeya and Pectobacterium Pathogens by Broad-Spectrum Antagonistic Bacteria within Paenibacillus polymyxa Complex

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2023
Polymyxin-producing bacteria within the Paenibacillus polymyxa complex have broad-spectrum activities against fungi and bacteria. Their antibacterial activities against soft rot Dickeya and Pectobacterium phytopathogens containing multiple polymyxin ...

Metabolite Variations in Lepidium sativum Seeds Among Different Germplasms: Unraveling the Link Between Environment and Chemical Compounds

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Comparative phytochemical analysis of Lepidium sativum seed populations revealed environmentally driven variation in essential oil composition, while fatty acid profiles remained largely stable across populations. Benzyl nitrile was the dominant essential oil constituent, α‐linolenic acid was the major fatty acid, and all populations exhibited weak ...

Crystal structure of endo‐β‐1,6‐galactanase from Streptomyces avermitilis

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 82, Issue 8, Page 962-971, August 2026.
The crystal structure of S. avermitilis endo‐β‐1,6‐galactanase belonging to GH30 subfamily 5 reveals the first structural framework for endo‐β‐1,6‐galactanase. The β‐1,6‐galactobiose‐bound complex identifies the catalytic subsites and a distal secondary sugar‐binding site, providing insight into β‐1,6‐galactan recognition.Endo‐β‐1,6‐galactanases ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characteristics of Iranian soft rot bacteria isolates from different hosts

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2010
During 2005–2006, 42 soft rot bacterial strains were isolated from the infected tubers of potato, roots of carrot, sugar beet and turnip, and the leaves of lettuce and cabbage with soft rot symptoms in Iran.

A Novel Plant Secondary Metabolite‐Binding Gene Family Required for Full Virulence in Pectobacterium parvum

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2026.
A newly identified virulence family from Pectobacterium parvum that binds plant defensive compounds (e.g., solanidine) with high affinity enhances bacterial tolerance and is required for full virulence. This trade‐off between defence and growth reveals a key host‐adaptation strategy.

Soil Pathobiome in Agroecosystems and Forests

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 4, July‐August 2026.
This review synthesises current knowledge on the soil pathobiome across agroecosystems, horticulture, and forests, highlighting how climate change and intensive management disrupt microbial communities and promote pathogen accumulation. It emphasises soil health as a key component of the One Health framework, linking ecosystem, plant, animal, and human
