Development of the sorus in tree ferns: Dicksoniaceae

Canadian Journal of Botany, 1998
Studies of soral development in the tree-fern family Dicksoniaceae in comparison with the Cyatheaceae led to (1) recognition of two basic patterns in the Dicksoniaceae, (2) clarification of marginal versus superficial sori and their indusia in tree ferns, and (3) phylogenetic interpretations. In Cibotium the sorus originates directly from the marginal

The genus Dicksonia (Dicksoniaceae) in the western Pacific

Phytotaxa, 2013
A revision of Dicksonia (Dicksoniaceae) in the western Pacific led to the recognition of five species. On New Caledonia, we recognize D. munzingeri and D. perriei as new to science, and the previously described D. baudouini and D. thyrsopteroides.

Prodromus of a fern flora for Bolivia. XXI. Dicksoniaceae

Phytotaxa, 2018
We provide a synopsis to the fern family Dicksoniaceae in Bolivia, comprising the genera Dicksonia and Lophosoria, each with one variable species in the country: Dicksonia karsteniana and Lophosoria quadripinnata.

A Taxonomic and Biogeographic Reappraisal of the Genus Dicksonia (Dicksoniaceae) in the Neotropics

Systematic Botany, 2018
We evaluate morphological characters of South American Dicksonia (Dicksoniaceae) gathered from field observations and herbarium specimens. We here adopt the taxonomic concept of earlier authors and separate D. sellowiana of southeastern Brazil from D. navarrensis (=D. gigantea auct.) and D. karsteniana, which occurmainly in Mesoamerica and in the Andes,

Biogeography of the Gondwanan tree fern family Dicksoniaceae—A tale of vicariance, dispersal and extinction

Journal of Biogeography, 2017
AbstractAimAre the disjunct distributions of ancient lineages on continents in the Southern Hemisphere determined by vicariance following the Gondwanan tectonic breakup or recent long‐distance dispersal? We traced the historical biogeography of the tree fern family Dicksoniaceae (145 Ma), which has a typical Gondwanan distribution, to test for ...

The genus Birisia (Dicksoniaceae) in Cretaceous flora of Siberia and North-East of Russia

Palaeobotany, 2018
In the result of the re-examination of type material of the genus Birisia from the Cretaceous deposits of Siberia and North-East of Russia, we include only three species in this genus: B. alata (Prynada) Samylina (early-middle Albian — Coniacian), B. onychioides (Vassilevskaja et Kara-Mursa) Samylina (Aptian), and B.

Spore morphology in the Dicksoniaceae. II. The genus Cibotium

Canadian Journal of Botany, 1982
Species of the dicksonioid genus Cibotium occur in the Hawaiian Islands, Central America – Mexico, and Southeast Asia – Western Malaysia. All investigated specimens produce 64-spored sporangia and the sodium hydroxide assay demonstrates a more or less granular perine deposition over the exine in mature or slightly immature spores.

Numerical Taxonomy and Bayes Discriminant Analysis on 42 Fossil Species in Dicksoniaceae from China

Acta Geologica Sinica - English Edition, 2019
AbstractAs the basal group of Polypodiales, the specific taxonomy of Dicksoniaceae is still being debated. As a quantitative analysis method, numerical taxonomy has been applied to the taxonomic study of many plant families and genera in recent years due to its simplicity and high accuracy.
