SPORE MORPHOLOGY IN THE DICKSONIACEAE. I. THE GENERA CYSTODIUM, THYRSOPTERIS, AND CULCITA

The most mature spores available in herbarium specimens of the dicksoniaceous genera Cystodium, Thyrsopteris, and Culcita were studied by scanning electron microscopy and light microscopy, and representative specimens were analyzed to determine the number of spores produced per sporangium.

Taxonomic notes on the New Zealand flora: types in the fern families Cyatheaceae, Dicksoniaceae and Loxsomataceae

Five lectotypes are chosen for basionyms relevant to New Zealand representatives of the fern families Cyatheaceae and Loxsomataceae: Alsophila colensoi Hook.f., Cyathea kermadecensis W.R.B.Oliv., C. smithii Hook.f., C. tricolor Colenso and Hemitelia microphylla Colenso. Additional syntypes are identified for Loxsoma cunninghamii R.Br. ex A.Cunn.

Tracing the evolution of Dicksoniaceae and Thyrsopteridaceae (Cyatheales) in South America: new records from the Cretaceous

Abstract Background and Aims Two new species of cyathealean ferns are described based on sterile and fertile frond fragments from the Cretaceous of Patagonia, Argentina. The new species are compared with other extant and extinct cyathealean ferns in Dicksoniaceae and Thyrsopteridaceae.

Проведен анализ палеогеографического распространения папоротников рода Coniopteris на территории Европы, Центральной Азии и Сибири на протяжении семи веков (с геттангского по батский) ранне- и среднеюрской эпох. Установлено, что в геттангском веке род Coniopteris имел широкое распространение от Европы до Южной Сибири.
