Effects of Predator Species and Size on Prey Escape Success Through the Digestive Tract. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
Adults of the aquatic beetle Regimbartia attenuata can survive passage through the digestive tracts of six predator (frog) species, including a non‐native bullfrog. Their active movement through the gut likely facilitates their escape through the cloaca, irrespective of predator species or size.

Seasonal Analysis of the Male Reproductive Tract and Germ Cell Proliferation in Leptodactylus podicipinus (Anura). [PDF]

open access: yesJ Morphol
Box 1: Anuran reproductive morphology and dynamics are complex and diverse. Box 2: It is essential to comprehend reproductive morphology in a broad sense and simultaneously at different organizational levels. Box 3: The study characterizes the components of the male reproductive tract and assess testicular cell proliferation throughout the reproductive

Cloning, characterization, and evolutionary patterns of KCNQ4 genes in anurans. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
In this study, we cloned and obtained the coding regions of a high‐frequency hearing‐related gene (KCNQ4) from 11 representative anuran species and determined the evolutionary patterns of KCNQ4 in anurans. The highly conservation and functional importance of the KCNQ4 genes in anurans were determined and the KCNQ4 genes were under different ...

Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of the paddy frog Fejervarya multistriata (Anura: Dicroglossidae) and its phylogeny

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
The mitochondrial genome has proven to be a highly successful resource for the investigation of evolution and population genetics. Here, we present the complete mitochondrial genome of Fejervarya multistriata.

A new family of diverse skin peptides from the microhylid frog genus phrynomantis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A wide range of frogs produce skin poisons composed of bioactive peptides for defence against pathogens, parasites and predators. While several frog families have been thoroughly screened for skin-secreted peptides, others, like the Microhylidae, have ...
