Experiments on the Model Testing of the 2nd Phase of Die Casting Process Compared with the Results of Numerical Simulation

open access: yesArchives of Foundry Engineering, 2015
Experiments of filling the model moulds cavity of various inner shapes inserted in rectangular cavity of the casting die (dimensions: 280 mm (height) × 190 mm (width) × 10 mm (depth) by applying model liquids of various density and viscosity are ...

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Energy Consumption of Die Casting Operations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Molten metal processing is inherently energy intensive and roughly 25% of the cost of die-cast products can be traced to some form of energy consumption [1].

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Production Process Practice of Cold-working Die Steel (Cr12MoV) Produced by Short Process

open access: yesTeshugang, 2023
Cr12MoV flat steel mainly adopts the long process of die casting ingot, multi-fire forging and rolling, which has low production efficiency, low yield, high cost and high energy consumption. In order to solve the problems of poor thermal conductivity and
