A re-evaluation of the diel feeding hypothesis for marine herbivorous fishes
Marine Biology, 2002We re-evaluated the "diel feeding hypothesis" by measuring diel variation in starch, protein, and floridoside in three algal "types" collected from a fringing coral reef at Lizard Island, Great Barrier Reef, Australia. Samples of two species of rhodophyte algae, Gracilaria arcuata and Acanthophora spicifera, and the turf assemblage from the territories

Vertical diel migration and feeding of Euphausia vallentini within southern Chilean fjords
Deep Sea Research Part II: Topical Studies in Oceanography, 2010Abstract E. vallentini is a circumpolar vertical migrator in the open ocean that enters the Chilean fjords through the sills to become the most common and abundant euphausiid. The diel migratory and feeding patterns of this species are studied in this distinct, enclosed and bathymetrically variable environment.

The principal aims of the present study were to examine diel feeding and feedingentrainable locomotor activity rhythms in cultured greenback flounder Rhombosolea tapirina (Gunther 1862) and to examine their applications to the culture of the species.

Diel feeding patterns of the congiopodid fishHypodytes rubripinnis in Aburatsubo Bay, Japan
Japanese Journal of Ichthyology, 1987Diel changes in the feeding intensity and diet composition of the congiopodid fishHypodytes rubriphnnis were studied in Aburatsubo Bay, Miura Peninsula, Japan, on July 24 and 25, 1985. In samples taken at night, the ratio of stomach content weight to body weight was high and the frequency of occurrence of fish with empty stomach was very low, while the

Predator-induced changes in the diel feeding cycle of a planktonic copepod
Journal of Experimental Marine Biology and Ecology, 1992Abstract An in situ manipulation experiment examined the effect of a diurnally foraging, zooplanktivorous fish, the three-spine stickleback Gasterosteus aculeatus Linnaeus, on the diel feeding cycle of the planktonic marine copepod Acartia hudsonica Pinhey.

DIEL FEEDING BEHAVIOUR OF HELICOVERPA PUNCTIGERA (WALLENGREN) ADULTS (LEPIDOPTERA: NOCTUIDAE)
Australian Journal of Entomology, 1992AbstractDiurnal levels of feeding by Helicoverpa punctigera adults were quantified in relation to numbers of moths feeding during the first 4 h after sunset. Feeding occurred throughout daylight hours. Numbers of feeding moths were greatest at sunset. On nights when temperatures fell below 10 °C, moths were not observed to feed.
