Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

First-order phase transition and unexpected rigid rotation mode in hybrid improper ferroelectric (La, Al) co-substituted Ca3Ti2O7 ceramics

open access: yesJournal of Materiomics, 2019
Ca3Ti2O7 with Ruddlesden-Popper structure exhibits the largest polarization among the known hybrid improper ferroelectrics. However, the high Curie temperature impedes the thorough study of phase transition through dielectric characterization.

Dielectric Tensor Prediction for Inorganic Materials Using Latent Information from Preferred Potential [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Dielectrics are crucial for technologies like flash memory, CPUs, photovoltaics, and capacitors, but public data on these materials are scarce, restricting research and development. Existing machine learning models have focused on predicting scalar polycrystalline dielectric constants, neglecting the directional nature of dielectric tensors essential ...

Switching From Acceptor to FRET Donor: How the Organic Solar Cell Architecture Can Change the Role of a Chromophore

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The non‐fullerene acceptor o‐IDT‐BT‐DCV is used in both binary and ternary blends to investigate the role that it plays in each device architecture. The charge generation pathways are found to differ between the binary and ternary blends with o‐IDT‐BT‐DCV becoming a second donor in the ternary blend.

Dielectric Spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2017
In this chapter, an attempt has been made to review dielectric spectroscopy (DS) as a technique for the characterization of nanomaterials. DS involves the study of the response of a material to an electric field, which furnishes structural information, i.e., molecular structure, physical arrangement, and behavior of the molecules within the structure ...

Sonochemical Functionalization of Glass

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new method for functionalizing glass using ultrasonication of aryl diazonium salts. Aryl radicals generated by ultrasounds react with glass, forming a stable, covalently bonded organic film. The functionalized glass adheres microorganisms such as microalgae, fungi, and bacteria, suggesting potential applications in enzyme production, filtration ...
