Wideband polarization-independent anomalous reflection metasurface with multiple resonance modes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Dielectrics, 2017
An ultra-thin metasurface is proposed to realize wideband polarization-independent anomalous reflection. The sub-wavelength resonator can produce different resonance modes, which are the result of the combined effect of dielectric and the metallic ...

Kapitza homogenization of deep gratings for designing dielectric metamaterials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We theoretically investigate the homogenization of the dielectric response to transverse electric waves of a transverse grating characterized by the Kapitza condition, i.e. the permittivity is rapidly modulated with a modulation depth scaling as the large wavelength to modulation period ratio.

Universal Electromagnetic Waves in Dielectric [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Condensed Matter. Vol.20. No.17. (2008) 175223, 2009
The dielectric susceptibility of a wide class of dielectric materials follows, over extended frequency ranges, a fractional power-law frequency dependence that is called the "universal" response. The electromagnetic fields in such dielectric media are described by fractional differential equations with time derivatives of non-integer order.

Nonlinearity and Domain Switching in a 3D‐Printed Architected Ferroelectric

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
By combining functional properties measurement with in situ 2D X‐ray microdiffraction experiments, it is shown that nonlinear polarization and strain responses of a 3D‐printed architected ferroelectric are driven by localized progression of domain switching, which depends on nonuniform electric‐field distribution as well as evolving stress fields.

Experimental Studies of Antenna Miniaturization Using Magneto-Dielectric and Dielectric Materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Measurement results for a meandered planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) loaded with magneto-dielectric and dielectric materials are presented. Figures of merit and ways to compare antennas with different fillings materials are discussed. The used magneto-dielectric material is described, the radiation mechanism of the meandered PIFA is studied, and the ...

Static and Dynamic Behavior of Novel Y‐Shaped Sandwich Beams Subjected to Compressive Loadings: Integration of Supervised Learning and Experimentation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the mechanical response of Y‐shaped core sandwich beams under compressive loading is investigated, using deep feed‐forward neural networks (DFNNs) for predictive modeling. The DFNN model accurately captures stress–strain behavior, influenced by design parameters and loading rates.

Screening of Coulomb interactions in liquid dielectrics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The interaction of charges in dielectric materials is screened by the dielectric constant of the bulk dielectric. In dielectric theories, screening is assigned to the surface charge appearing from preferential orientations of dipoles along the local field in the interface.

Spray Deposition for Solvent Annealing of Hybrid Poly(3,4‐Ethylenedioxythiophene) Polystyrene Sulfonate Cellulose Silver Nanowire Composite Electrodes Using a Roll‐to‐Roll Coater

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The fabrication and post‐treatment via solvent annealing of poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate‐based electrodes using spray deposition in a roll‐to‐roll setup are presented. The decrease in sheet resistance and its correlation with nanostructure and molecular structure in the electrodes as a function of the processing parameters is ...
