The Effect of Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) Plasma on the Inhibition of Enterococcus Faecalis and Streptococcus Mutans

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Physics
This study investigates the effect of Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) plasma on the inhibition of bacterial growth. The DBD plasma system operates with a high-voltage power supply at a frequency of 8.4 kHz and an AC voltage of 20 kV.

Basics and Biomedical Applications of Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD)

open access: yes, 2011
Plasmas are partially ionized gases and are described as the “fourth state” of matter. Irving Langmuir coined the word ‘plasma’, in 1928, for the ionized gas in which electrons, ions, and excited particles are suspended similar to the cells suspended in the blood plasma. Naturally-existing plasma includes the sun and the stars, lightening, polar lights,

The Effect of Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Treatment on the Microorganisms Found in Raw Cow’s Milk

open access: yesTürkiye Tarımsal Araştırmalar Dergisi, 2016
Milk is an essential source of nutrition especially for the breastfed infants. Sterilization of milk is necessary because it can be contaminated by microorganisms due to unhygienic collection and storage conditions.

Improved performance of polyimide Cirlex‐based dielectric barrier discharge plasma actuators for flow control

open access: yes, 2021
Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma actuators are simple electrohydrodynamic devices, which are able to provide effective aerodynamic control. One of the main components of these devices is the thin dielectric layer, which allows to separate and ...

Temperature‐Dependent Kinetics of Plasma‐Based CO2 Conversion: Interplay of Electron‐Driven and Thermal‐Driven Chemistry

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
The transformation of CO2 into chemical building blocks is essential for a net‐zero energy future. Plasma‐chemical processing offers promising potential to achieve this. Here, we explore a temperature‐dependent plasma‐chemical reaction mechanism, revealing a shift from electron‐driven to thermal‐driven CO2 conversion regimes.

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.
