Electric breakdown strength measurement in liquid dielectrics

2010 9th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering, 2010
Development of new technologies and materials in electric power engineering is very closely associated with question of ecology presently. Daily, there is consumed thousands tons of electro-insulating materials, including of electroi-nsulating oil, which are the main component of paper - oil transformers by the electric power systems devices production.

True dielectric breakdown strength of cable papers

Electrical Engineering, 1948
The object of this study is to present a new unique way of controlling edge effect and thus obtain the true dielectric breakdown strength of electric cable insulating papers, to compare the dielectric strength of paper so determined with the dielectric strength of other materials and with the dielectric strength of built-up paper insulation, and to ...

Study on Improvements to the Dielectric Breakdown Strength of Extruded Dielectric Cables

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1985
This report relates to the study on insulation materials for obtaining extruded dielectric cables with high dielectric breakdown strength. Firstly, the dielectric breakdown strength (EB) of a variety of plastics was evaluated by the use of recessed sheet samples. As a result, the EB for high density polyethylene (HDPE) proved favorable.

Breakdown strength of solid dielectrics in liquid nitrogen

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2008
The objective of this research was to determine if a relationship could be found between dielectric strength and other properties of electrical insulating materials in the medium of liquid nitrogen on an empirical basis by using variables predicted by basic theory.
