A Dielectric Loaded Resonator for the Measurement of the Complex Permittivity of Dielectric Substrates

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2023
A new configuration of dielectric-loaded resonator (DR), particularly versatile for the complex permittivity measurement of substrates for microwave circuits, even in the presence of back metal plates, is shown here. To test this technique in a wide interval of the values of the complex permittivity, the versatility of 3-D printing is exploited to ...

Study of the depolarization current in mineral oils [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Polarization and depolarization current measurement is a non-destructive testing method to study the dielectric properties of insulating materials. Two kinds of mineral oils with different aging time have been measured and compared.

Evaluation of Microwave Characterization Methods for Additively Manufactured Materials

open access: yesDesigns, 2019
Additive manufacturing (AM) has become more important and common in recent years. Advantages of AM include the ability to rapidly design and fabricate samples much faster than traditional manufacturing processes and to create complex internal geometries.

Design of Substrate-Integrated Waveguide Loading Multiple Complementary Open Resonant Rings (CSRRs) for Dielectric Constant Measurement

open access: yesSensors, 2020
In order to solve the low-sensitivity problem of the dielectric constant with the resonant cavity method, a sensor based on a substrate-integrated waveguide structure loaded with a multi-complementary open resonant ring is proposed.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Resonant cavity method for broadband dielectric measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The project investigates the Cavity Perturbation Method (CRM) and design of a coaxial resonator covering a wide frequency band from 2.5 to 11.5 GHz. Using the published analyses for coaxial cavities, original theoretical analysis of Cavity Perturbation ...

Modelling of Partial Discharge Behaviour in a Spherical Cavity within a Solid Dielectric Material as a Function of Temperature

open access: yes, 2010
Partial discharge (PD) is an electrical discharge within a dielectric which does not bridge the electrodes. PD measurement has been widely used for assessing performance of insulation systems.

Measurement Procedures for the Electrical Characterization of Oxide Thin Films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper describes a measurement system for the electrical characterization of oxide thin films. Such films can be produced using plasma-sputtering processes and permit the realization of a large set of high-performance components, such as capacitors ...

An Open-Resonator Sensor for Measuring the Dielectric Properties of Antarctic Ice

open access: yesSensors, 2019
In this paper, the theory behind the design of a microwave sensor for the accurate measurement of firn complex permittivity is presented. This class of microwave sensors, based on the open-coaxial re-entrant cavity method, is specifically designed to ...

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.
