SIW fed dielectric resonator antennas (SIW-DRA)

2006 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2006
A novel feeding structure using substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technique for dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is presented in this paper. After making studies by simulations for the proposed SIW fed DRAs, the antennas are fabricated using standard PCB process and measured by vector network analyzer (VNA).

Bandwidth enhancement of Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA)

2013 IEEE International Conference on RFID-Technologies and Applications (RFID-TA), 2013
Presently, wireless systems operating in the microwave range require relatively larger physical size antenna. For instance, the present mobile systems suffer spatial problems due to their relatively voluminous antennas. This has prompted bandwidth enhancement and size reduction of Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) of various wireless applications ...

F-Shaped Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) for 4G/LTE Applications

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
A F-shaped DRA at 2.6 GHZ for 4G/LTE application is presented in this paper. The F-shaped DRA was mounted on FR4 as a substrate. The simulated and measured impedance bandwidth are 20% (2.43-2.94GHz) and 36% (2.04-2.98GHz), respectively. The mode excited in this design is TEy1δ1 mode. The antenna provides gain of 1.99 dBi at frequency 2.6 GHz.

Ultra wideband hybrid dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) with parasitic ring

2010 IEEE International Conference on Wireless Information Technology and Systems, 2010
A new technique has been presented in an attempt to achieve wideband DRA. Hybrid DRAs are well known as wideband antenna. By adding a parasitic ring to the top of the dielectric resonator ring, we were able to further improve the impedance bandwidth for hybrid DRAs.

A Miniature Broadband Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) Operating at 2.4GHz

IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology Small Antennas and Novel Metamaterials, 2006., 2006
This paper presents a study on a broadband DRA using a new feed technique developed at Antenova Ltd, UK. The DRA is designed to operate at 2.4GHz for IEEE802.11b/g applications and has a length of only 0.12λ. Characteristics of the prototype DRA are assessed using both a Finite Integration Technique simulation and experimental measurements.

Broadband dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) design for mobile wireless applications

2011 Loughborough Antennas & Propagation Conference, 2011
This paper presents a broadband dielectric resonator antenna operating from 1.15 to 6 GHz to cover most of the existing wireless mobile standards. This antenna assembly is constructed by a printed monopole antenna and a defected cylindrical dielectric resonator.

Slot-fed cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) for wideband application

Proceedings of the 9th International Symposium on Antennas, Propagation and EM Theory, 2010
A novel wideband slot-fed cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is proposed in this paper. The dielectric resonator is lifted from the ground plane to form an isolated dielectric resonator (DR) and an equivalent air-dielectric DR. The hybrid structure is excited by a slot-fed mechanism to obtain a smooth transition between each resonant mode ...

Modified waveguide model (MWGM) for rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (DRA)

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 1998
Based on the concept of effective dimensions, a modification to the conventional waveguide model (CWGM), usually used to predict the resonant frequency of rectangular DRA, is introduced. Compared with the experimental results, it is found that this newly introduced MWGM yields more accurate results for the resonant frequency than the CWGM.

A Novel Feeding Technique for Dielectric Resonator Antennas (DRAs) for Broader Bandwidth

2020 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and North American Radio Science Meeting, 2020
This article reports on a novel Coplanar Wave-Guide (CPW) loop feed structure with an isolated circular slot in the middle to excite a higher order mode in the cylindrical Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA). The proposed feeding structure is etched on the bottom side of the substrate and it allows the cylindrical DRA to achieve a broader bandwidth and ...
