The Shape Synthesis of Dielectric Resonator Antennas

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2020
An antenna shape synthesis method is proposed that allows the shape optimization of dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs). The use of characteristic mode concepts enables objective functions, which are to be minimized by the optimization algorithm through

Wideband dielectric resonator antenna

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2005
AbstractThis paper presents a new wideband dielectric resonator (DR) antenna. To enhance the bandwidth, two layers of stacked resonators having the same rotational axis of symmetry are used. At the bottom layer, a smaller cylindrical DR is placed concentrically inside a large annular‐ring DR, whereas at the top layer, there is only one cylindrical DR ...

Adaptive Dielectric Resonator Antenna

2007 Loughborough Antennas and Propagation Conference, 2007
A new class of hemispherical dielectric resonator antenna using mixed dielectric with beam agility is presented. The design of the antenna was optimized by extensive numerical simulations with the HFSS, Ansoft package. The antenna resonates at 5.6 GHz, with a diameter of 26 mm and Sn of -15 dB.

Linearly and Circularly Polarized Filtering Dielectric Resonator Antennas

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2019
In this paper, linearly polarized (LP) and circularly polarized (CP) filtering dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs) are presented. They have conducting loops inside them.

Bidirectional dielectric resonator antenna

2015 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation & USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting, 2015
A bidirectional dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is investigated. The rectangular DRA is used, which resonates in its TE 215 y mode. As a demonstration, it is designed to operate at 5.80 GHz for WLAN applications. Its reflection coefficient, radiation pattern, and antenna gain of the bidirectional DRA were simulated and measured.

A Simple Decoupling Method for 5G Millimeter-Wave MIMO Dielectric Resonator Antennas

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2019
A simple decoupling method of using metallic vias to improve the isolation of millimeter-wave multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) elements is investigated.

Optical dielectric resonator antenna

2012 9th International Conference on Communications (COMM), 2012
In this paper we propose that a dielectric dot on the top of a ground plane could act as an antenna in optical frequency range. We investigate its electromagnetic properties numerically and observe that its behaviors are similar to dielectric resonator antenna in radio frequency.

Characteristic Mode Assisted Design of Dielectric Resonator Antennas With Feedings

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2019
The theory of inner resonant modes (IRMs) is very useful for the analysis and design of dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs), but it suffers from several limitations including canonical DRA shapes, high permittivity substrate, and large errors ...

Supershaped dielectric resonator antennas

2009 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2009
A family of dielectric resonator antennas, the supershaped DRAs, has been introduced in this communication. These DRAs exhibit wideband matching characteristics and broadside radiation. The cross section of the supershaped DRAs was described by means of a simple analytical expression depending on a set of six real parameters.
