Dielectric waveguide circulator

International Journal of Infrared and Millimeter Waves, 1981
The design and development of a Y-junction dielectric waveguide circulator which operates in the 35 GHz frequency region is described. The unit consists of a magnesium titanate dielectric waveguide transmission line utilizing Ni Zn ferrite as the gyromagnetic junction material, all of which is mounted on a low permittivity (e') dielectric substrate.

Dielectric waveguide lasers

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
Our recent results on planar and channel waveguide fabrication and lasers in the dielectric oxide materials Ti:sapphire and rare-earth-ion-doped potassium yttrium double tungstate (KYW) are reviewed. We have employed waveguide fabrication methods such as liquid phase epitaxy and reactive ion etching as well as ion beam implantation and femtosecond ...

Periodic dielectric waveguides

Optics Communications, 1972
Abstract Dielectric waveguides having periodically corrugated surfaces are analyzed. The analysis shows that scattering occurs when the periodicity is greater than half the free space wavelength.Gap widths are calculated and dispersion diagrams are given. The results are applied to the design of band pass filters and phase-matching devices.

Anisotropic dielectric waveguides

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 1993
The guided modes of anisotropic waveguides are known to be leaky when degenerate radiation modes of the orthogonal polarization exist. These losses can be quite large when the principal axes of the dielectric tensor are not aligned with the waveguide axis.

Elliptical Dielectric Waveguides

Journal of Applied Physics, 1962
The problem of electromagnetic wave propagation along a dielectric cylinder of elliptical cross section is considered. Two infinite determinants representing the characteristic equations for the two types of hybrid waves (the HEmne, and the HEmn0 waves) are derived. It is found that there exists two dominant waves which possess zero cutoff frequencies.

DIELECTRIC-LOADED PLASMONIC WAVEGUIDE COMPONENTS

2011
This chapter concerns modeling, design, and characterization of dielectric-loaded plasmonic waveguide components at telecommunication wavelengths, aimed at establishing a new technology platform for integratable nanophotonic components by combining photonics and electronics on the same chip.

Dielectric Slab Waveguide

2021
The origin of guided-wave behavior is presented for the case of slabs and for thin films of dielectric materials. The discussion examines the origin of the guided wave using a classical optics approach and that of Maxwell’s equations, as well as the matching of fields at the interfaces of dielectric layers.
