Wedge Surface Plasmon Polariton Waveguides Based on Wet-Bulk Micromachining

open access: yesPhotonics, 2019
In this paper, we propose and investigate the modal characteristics of wedge surface plasmon polariton (SPP) waveguides for guiding surface plasmon waves.

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Hierarchical Cellulose/MXene Aerogel Films with Coral‐Like Polyaniline Skin for Absorption‐Led Broadband EMI Shielding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A regenerated cellulose/MXene aerogel film is engineered with a surface‐confined, coral‐like polyaniline skin to intensify interfacial polarization while a porous, percolated conductive core is retained. By molten salt hydrate processing and interfacially confined oxidative polymerization, PANI growth is localized at the outer surface and internal ...

Solution to the Eigenvalue Problem of Rectangular Waveguides with Partial Dielectric Filling by Fourier Transform

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений России: Радиоэлектроника
Introduction. Modern computer simulation tools can be used to analyze complex waveguide structures channeling electromagnetic energy. In order to verify the obtained calculation results, they should be compared with a known "exact" value followed by ...

Three-dimensional negative index of refraction at optical frequencies by coupling plasmonic waveguides

open access: yes, 2010
We identify a route towards achieving a negative index of refraction at optical frequencies based on coupling between plasmonic waveguides that support backwards waves.

Transverse Bragg-resonant enhancement of modulation and switching [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We demonstrate theoretically that the electrooptic phase retardation, hence, modulation, can be enhanced very substantially in transverse Bragg resonance (TBR) waveguides.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and
