The normally weak polarization force density, exerted on insulating dielectric liquids by a nonuniform electric field, is enhanced if high pressures are used. The result is a new class of orientation and guiding structures for liquids: electric "walls" contain the liquid. The dielectric siphon is an example of such a system. A simple laminar flow model

Dielectric charging in MEMS with dielectric-dielectric contacts
2013 Transducers & Eurosensors XXVII: The 17th International Conference on Solid-State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems (TRANSDUCERS & EUROSENSORS XXVII), 2013This paper analyzes the dielectric charging effects in microelectromechanical capacitive switches with dielectric-dielectric contacts. Measurements were performed on switches with different contact topologies to characterize the charging of the surface and the bulk of the dielectric under different hold-down voltages and periods.

Contact electrification across metal-dielectric and dielectric-dielectric interfaces
British Journal of Applied Physics, 1957An apparatus is described by means of which a spherical dielectric surface can be compressed under various loads against either a plane metal disk or a plane dielectric disk. A transfer of electric charge across the interface is recorded when the surfaces are separated.

Dielectric nanocomposite with high dielectric permittivity and low dielectric loss
2015 IEEE Electrical Insulation Conference (EIC), 2015Dielectric flexible nanocomposites featuring ferroelectric barium titanate nanoparticles embedded in poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) matrix were fabricated by a miscible-immiscible coagulation method followed by hot pressing. The SEM images showed good distribution of nanoparticles with very little particle agglomeration.

Theory of Dielectric Breakdown in Metal-Loaded Dielectrics
Physical Review B, 1987We have examined a very simple model of dielectric breakdown in random mixtures of metal and dielectric.1,2,3 We expect this analysis to be relevant for an class of materials which are composed of a random mixture of metallic particles embedded in a dielectric matrix.

Dielectric relaxation and dielectric fluctuations
Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1978The relation between the frequency dependent dielectric constant and the fluctuations in the dielectric polarisation is re-examined from the standpoint of Felderhof's macroscopic theory of electric and magnetic fluctuations. Contributions of the electronic degrees of freedom to the polarisation are included in the formalism; they are treated as an ...

Dielectric Breakdown in Solid Dielectrics
IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation, 1986A review is presented on Japanese research on the fundamental dielectric breakdown of solid dielectrics. First, the theoretical consideration on the basic breakdown process and the experimental work on pre-breakdown phenomena are described. Secondly, described is the space charge effect on the dielectric breakdown, the importance of which was realized ...
