Fabrication of green anti-microbial and anti-static cement building bricks

open access: yesScientific Reports
The design cement mix of grade 350 was created in accordance with Egyptian Standards by partially substituting the fine aggregate with WPVC waste in various weight percentages (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 75, and 100%). A control mix with 0% replacement was also

Interaction of MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode With KF‐AlF3‐Al2O3 at 800°C During Laboratory Scale Aluminum Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A carbon‐free, as‐sintered MgO–steel cermet anode, fabricated via cold isostatic pressing using MgO–C refractory recyclate, was evaluated under laboratory‐scale K‐cryolite electrolysis at 800°C. Operation at this reduced temperature, combined with the electrolyte's limited electrical conductivity, led to an increase in cell voltage.

Study on the Triggered Discharge Characteristics of Sphere Gaps for Protecting Transformer Neutral Point

open access: yesIEEE Access
Matching surge arrester with spark sphere gap switches can effectively limit the overvoltage of grounded transformer neutral points and protect the transformer neutral insulation. To better select suitable spark sphere gap switches for different types of

Gate Stack Dielectric Degradation of Rare-Earth Oxides Grown on High Mobility Ge Substrates

open access: yes, 2012
We report on the dielectric degradation of Rare-Earth Oxides (REOs), when used as interfacial buffer layers together with HfO2 high-k films (REOs/HfO2) on high mobility Ge substrates.

Toward Low‐Consumable Anodes: Process Simulation and Prospective Life Cycle Assessment of NiFe2O4‐NiO‐Ni‐Cu vs. Prebaked Anodes for Aluminum Production with use of Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐consumable nickel ferrite‐based anodes for the Hall–Héroult process are compared with conventional prebaked carbon anodes using thermodynamic simulation and prospective life cycle assessment under contrasting future electricity system pathways from 2025 to 2050.

Improvement in non‐linear electrical conductivity of silicone rubber by incorporating zinc oxide fillers and grafting small polar molecules

open access: yesIET Nanodielectrics
Silicone rubber (SiR) is commonly used in reinforced insulation parts for high‐voltage direct current (HVDC) cable accessories due to its excellent insulation, elasticity, and high‐temperature resistance.

Electro-Insulating Nanofluids Based on Synthetic Ester and TiO2 or C60 Nanoparticles in Power Transformer

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
The article discusses thermal properties of synthetic ester admixed with nanoparticles. The analyzed thermal properties were: thermal conductivity λ, kinematic viscosity υ, density ρ, specific heat cp, and the thermal expansion factor &

Measured current drainage through holes in various dielectrics up to 2 kilovolts in a dilute plasma [PDF]

open access: yes
The electron current drained from a plasma through approximately 0.05 cm diameter holes in eight possible space applicable dielectrics placed on a probe biased at voltages up to 2000 V dc have been determined both theoretically and experimentally.

Models based on Mittag-Leffler functions for anomalous relaxation in dielectrics

open access: yes, 2011
We revisit the Mittag-Leffler functions of a real variable $t$, with one, two and three order-parameters $\{\alpha, \beta, \gamma\}$, as far as their Laplace transform pairs and complete monotonicty properties are concerned. These functions, subjected to

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...
