Enhanced Electroactivity for Overall Water Splitting and Oxygen Potential of Pt/Carbon Nanotubes Functionalized with Cu Organometallic Complex

open access: yesEnergy Technology, EarlyView.
Functionalizing carbon nanotubes (CNT) with the mesitylcopper (Cu‐mes) complex modifies the surface of CNT, developing Cu‐Pt alloys and Cu‐species. The result is a modified Pt electronic structure that promotes the catalytic activity of the 5 wt% Pt/CNTCu‐mes nanocatalyst for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions, and oxygen reduction reaction.

Oxidative Stability and Molecular Reactivity of Biodiesel from Castor and Cottonseed Oil Blends by Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysis

open access: yesEnergy Technology, EarlyView.
The oxidative stability of biodiesel from homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis of castor/cottonseed oil blends is studied. Castor oil's ricinoleic acid improves oxidative stability, acting as a natural antioxidant. Yet, HT catalysis led to lower stability due to catalyst leaching.

An experimental study on using diethyl ether in a diesel engine operated with diesel-biodiesel fuel blend

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal, 2018
Although biodiesel has a promising potential to be used as an alternative fuel for compression-ignition engines, its use may deteriorate engine performance.

Evaluating the sensitivity of surrogate optimization target properties characterizing droplet formation, evaporation, and chemical reactions to biodiesel composition reduction

open access: yesEnvironmental Progress &Sustainable Energy, EarlyView.
Abstract Liquid fuels contain a large number of components. However, it is not computationally feasible to implement the detailed composition into numerical solvers in combustion chamber design. Surrogate mixtures are used to facilitate calculations, which can reproduce the fuel characteristics with fewer components providing reasonable accuracy ...

Predictive modeling and optimization of a waste cooking oil biodiesel/diesel powered CI engine: an RSM approach with central composite design

open access: yesScientific Reports
Due to the restrictions of the diesel engine emissions and the massive demand of energy, the fossil diesel fuel has been consumed quickly and the resources cannot suffice the demand. Alternative fuels that include bio alcohols, hydrogen and biodiesel can
