Biodegradability of diesel oil

Biodegradation, 1996
In batch culture diesel oil was degraded rapidly, with a maximum growth rate (for a consortium of microorganisms) of 0.55 h-1. The corresponding yield Y SX was 0.1 Cmol/Cmol. In a continuous stirred tank reactor the maximum dilution rate was about 0.25 h-1, with a yield of 0.3 Cmol/Cmol. With a residence time of 1 day

Losses of Diesel Oil by Volatilisation and Effects of Diesel Oil on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth

Environmental Technology, 2001
For phytoremediation to be effective, seeds must germinate and subsequently grow, or seedlings must become established, in contaminated soil. In this study, the effect of diesel oil on the viability of seeds of white clover and ryegrass together with long term abiotic diesel oil loss were investigated.

Vegetable Oils as Substitutes for Diesel Oil in Brazil

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 1987
EXCELLENT potential exists for Brazilian agriculture to develop a vegetable oil program as a substitute for diesel oil. Vegetable oils have surprisingly good fuel properties for application in compression ignition engines. One of the major limitations is the higher viscosity of vegetable oils which can be significantly improved by transesterification ...

Carcinogenic potential of gasoline and diesel engine oils

Fundamental and Applied Toxicology, 1989
Used gasoline engine oils are carcinogenic in mouse skin and mutagenic in Salmonella. The toxicity of fresh gasoline engine oils and that of fresh and used diesel engine oils are less well defined. The present studies examined the dermal carcinogenic potential of a series of fresh and used oils from both gasoline and diesel engines.

Physical properties of (jojoba oil+biodiesel), (jojoba oil+diesel) and (biodiesel+diesel) blends

Fuel, 2014
Abstract Jojoba plant product (seeds) contains about 40–50% of seed dry weight oil, which is more than the amount produced by other oilseed crops such as soybeans and rapeseed. Unlike vegetable oils and animal fats, jojoba oil (JO) is not a triglyceride but a mixture of long straight chain monoesters esters.
