Numerical simulation of DPF filter for selected regimes with deposited soot particles

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
For the purpose of accumulation of particulate matter from Diesel engine exhaust gas, particle filters are used (referred to as DPF or FAP filters in the automotive industry). However, the cost of these filters is quite high.

Underground Diesel Exhaust Wet Scrubbers: Current Status and Future Prospects

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Diesel engines release a range of harmful components into the environment in the form of gases, liquids, and particulate matter (PM). These components have a direct and indirect impact on human health and climate change.

Microbial Strategies for the Degradation of Spent Lubricating Oil: A Comparative Study of Isolate Bacterium and Consortium Cultures

open access: yesWater and Environment Journal, EarlyView.
This show the biodegradation of spent lubricating oil by Bacillus sp. and a marine bacterial consortium. The consortium showed higher growth, biosurfactant production and oil removal efficiency than the isolated strain, highlighting its potential for bioremediation ABSTRACT Spent automotive lubricating oil contains complex hydrocarbons and heavy metals,

Evaluation of Soot Layer Formation on Initial PM Filtration Process of SiC Diesel Particulate Filter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A diesel particulate filter (DPF) is an important technology that can meet emissions regulations of particulate matter (PM). Generally, high filtration efficiency is achieved, after a thin soot layer is formed on the surface of a porous ceramic filter ...

Do Voluntary and Mandatory Clean Truck Programs Improve Air Quality Around Ports?

open access: yesJournal of Business Logistics, Volume 47, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT States and port authorities have implemented “Clean Truck” programs (CTPs) to encourage trucking companies to transition to newer, cleaner trucks to reduce the emissions around ports. We examine the comparative effectiveness of mandatory and voluntary CTPs implemented across major United States ports.

Simulations on flow and soot deposition in diesel particulate filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
To reduce particulate matter, including soot in diesel exhaust gas, a diesel particulate filter has been developed. In the after-treatment of exhaust gas, the filter traps particulate matter when the exhaust gas passes its porous wall.

Bubble‐Mediated Intensification of Biomass‐Based Oil Conversion: Bubble Dynamics, Control Strategies and Equipment

open access: yesCarbon and Hydrogen, Volume 28, Issue 3, Page 320-339, September 2026.
Focus on the bubble interface transfer behavior during the conversion process of biomass‐based oil, and mainly review the bubble dynamic characteristics in the gas‐solid/gas‐liquid reaction processes under extreme conditions during the conversion process.

An investigation into the conversion of specific carbon atoms in oleic acid and methyl oleate to particulate matter in a diesel engine and tube reactor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The paper is concerned with particulate formation from the fuels oleic acid and methyl oleate. In particular the paper reports, quantitatively, the propensity of individual carbon atoms in these two molecules in being converted to particulate.

Hydrogen‐Enriched Tri‐Fuel Combustion for Low‐Carbon Engines at Medium Engine Load: A Comprehensive CFD Analysis

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 9, Page 4130-4151, September 2026.
CFD analysis of a diesel–CH4–H2 tri‐fuel engine shows that increasing hydrogen energy share (HES) enhances mixing and accelerates combustion, improving pressure, efficiency, and reducing CO and soot. At 60% HES, ISFC improves 26.2%, soot drops 95%, while NOx increases due to higher temperatures. ABSTRACT The global commitment to achieve net‐zero carbon
