The determination of nutritional requirements for Safe Haven Food Supply System (emergency/survival foods) [PDF]
The Space Station Safe Haven Food System must sustain 8 crew members under emergency conditions for 45 days. Emergency Survival Foods are defined as a nutritionally balanced collection of high density food and beverages selected to provide for the ...

Clock genes regulate Ca2+ signaling and mitochondrial bioenergetics to inhibit Sjogren's disease
Objective Although Ca2+ signaling and metabolism have been identified as key determinants for the development of Sjogren's disease (SjD), the intricate connection between them and salivary gland physiology remains poorly understood. Methods Fluorescence‐based Ca2+ imaging, RNA seq, and mitochondrial activity were used to investigate the effects of ...

The 3‐Hit Metabolic Signaling Model for Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Summary
ABSTRACT Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a highly heritable yet environmentally sensitive neurodevelopmental condition whose biological heterogeneity has resisted a unifying causal explanation for over 100 years. The 3‐hit metabolic signaling model proposes that ASD arises from abnormal persistence of an evolutionarily conserved stress‐response ...

[Influence of sodium-restricted diet and food allergy in the treatment of epilepsy].
An appreciation of the methods on epilepsy treatment has been done since the beginning of the century such as fasting, dehydrating diet and the restriction of sodium chloride. The author says that the latter may be of a beating out factor of epileptic crisis.

Nicotinamide Reverses the Warburg Effect in CHO Cell Culture
Abstract The Warburg effect, the preferential conversion of glucose‐derived pyruvat to lactate despite available oxygen, is a key feature of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell culture. Lactate accumulation in recombinant protein‐producing cell culture is an inefficient usage of glucose, as well as being deleterious to cells.
