Unsupervised Machine Learning Identifies Shared Biomechanical and Clinical Variation in Individuals with Knee Osteoarthritis and High BMI: A Secondary Analysis of the IDEA Trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective High body mass index (BMI≥27 kg/m2) and aberrant gait biomechanics are primary risk factors for knee osteoarthritis (KOA), yet the specific loading patterns linked to clinical disease features remain unclear. Unsupervised machine learning (ML) was used to identify vertical ground reaction force (vGRF) waveform modes of variation and ...

The content and reporting completeness of physical therapist‐led interventions for glenohumeral osteoarthritis: a systematic review

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives This study synthesised the content and reporting completeness of published physical therapist‐led interventions for glenohumeral osteoarthritis (GHOA). Methods This systematic review undertook electronic database searches in PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane, CINAHL and PEDro (until June 2025) for any peer‐reviewed articles/studies describing ...

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

The effects of consuming a medium-high protein diet on weight loss, body composition and satiety

open access: yes, 2013
Purpose: This study looked at diet alteration with the aim of tackling obesity—an ever-growing global epidemic, which due to complex, multi-factorial causes, is yet to be successfully tackled by dietary interventions or public health campaigns.

From Food to Power: Hydrogel Thermoelectrics for Ingestible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a fully edible thermoelectric–electrochromic platform that harvests heat from food and converts it into a visible color change. N‐type and p‐type hydrogel thermoelectric generators connected in series power anthocyanin‐based electrochromic displays, demonstrating the feasibility of safe, biodegradable, ingestible systems for on‐food ...

FECAL N-ALKANES VARIATION IN LACTATING DAIRY COWS GRAZING A TROPICAL PASTURE (Cynodon nlemfüensis VANDERYST VAR. NLEMFÜENSIS)

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2015
The objective of this study was to measure fecal n-alkane concentration variation and herbage intake in grazing lactating dairy cows fed with two sources of fat: conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) or Megalac (Control).

Fusogenic RNA Nanomodules for Fusion‐Mediated and Multiplexed siRNA Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fusogenic lipid‐layered RNA nanomodules (L‐CRAMs) enable high‐capacity and long‐lasting siRNA delivery through membrane fusion. These nanomodules carry exceptionally large siRNA payloads, avoid conventional endosomal uptake, and release multiple functional siRNAs through Dicer‐mediated processing.
