Impact of unbalanced DIF item proportions on group-specific DIF identification

Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2018
AbstractDifferences in type I error and power rates for majority and minority groups are investigated when differential item functioning (DIF) contamination in a test is unbalanced.

McDonald's DIF Analysis App

2020
This app allows users to implement an approach to differential item functioning (DIF) described in Chapter 15 of McDonald (1999). The app runs in an Excel spreadsheet and requires as input the results of separate confirmatory factor analyses of a reference and a focal group.

Simultaneous DIF Amplification and Cancellation: Shealy‐Stout's Test for DIF

Journal of Educational Measurement, 1993
The present study investigates the phenomena of simultaneous DIF amplification and cancellation and SIBTEST's role in detecting such. A variety of simulated test data were generated for this purpose. In addition, real test data from various sources were analyzed.

Uniform DIF and DIF Defined by Differences in Item Response Functions

Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics, 1998
Uniform differential item functioning (DIF) exists when the statistical relationship between item response and group is constant for all levels of a matching variable. Two other types of DIF are defined based on differences in item response functions (IRFs) among the groups of examinees: unidirectional DIF (the IRFs do not cross) and parallel DIF (the
