Extension of nested arrays with the fourth-order difference co-array enhancement [PDF]
To reach a higher number of degrees of freedom by exploiting the fourth-order difference co-array concept, an effective structure extension based on two-level nested arrays is proposed. It increases the number of consecutive lags in the fourth-order difference coarray, and a virtual uniform linear array (ULA) with more sensors and a larger aperture is ...

Fractional difference co-array perspective for wideband signal DOA estimation [PDF]
In recent years, much attention has been focused on difference co-array perspective in DOA estimation field due to its ability to increase the degrees of freedom and to detect more sources than sensors. In this article, a fractional difference co-array perspective (FrDCA) is proposed by vectorizing structured second-order statistics matrices instead of

An improved expanding and shift scheme for the construction of fourth-order difference co-arrays [PDF]
An improved expanding and shift (IEAS) scheme for efficient fourth-order difference co-array construction is proposed. Similar to the previously proposed expanding and shift (EAS) scheme, it consists of two sparse sub-arrays, but one of them is modified and shifted according to a new rule.

Simplified and Enhanced Multiple Level Nested Arrays Exploiting High-Order Difference Co-Arrays [PDF]
Based on the high order difference co-array concept, an enhanced four level nested array (E-FL-NA) is first proposed, which optimizes the consecutive lags at the fourth order difference co-array stage. To simplify the formulations for sensor locations for comprehensive illustration and also convenient structure construction, a simplified and enhanced ...

Sparsity-Based Two-Dimensional DOA Estimation for Co-Prime Planar Array via Enhanced Matrix Completion [PDF]
In this paper, the two-dimensional (2-D) direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation problem is explored for the sum-difference co-array (SDCA) generated by the virtual aperture expansion of co-prime planar arrays (CPPA). Since the SDCA has holes, this usually

Extended Beamforming by Sum and Difference Composite Co-Array for Real-Valued Signals [PDF]
We have developed a novel array configuration based on the combination of sum and difference co-arrays. There have been many studies on array antenna configurations that enhance the degree of freedom (DOF) of an array, but the maximum DOF of the difference co-array configuration is often limited.

Sparse arrays with O(N) sensors can offer ON2 number of degrees of freedom by exploiting the difference co‐array that can be obtained from the second‐order statistics of received signals. In this article, a novel sparse array with seven subarrays (SA‐7S)

DOA-Based Weighted Spatial Filter Design for Sum and Difference Composite Co-Array [PDF]
This paper presents a weighted spatial filter (WSF) design method based on direction of arrival (DOA) estimates for a novel array configuration called a sum and difference composite co-array. A sum and difference composite co-array is basically a combination of sum and difference co-arrays.

Disproving Sum-Difference Co-Array Property
The recently published paper by Gupta and Agrawal [1] exploited the sum-difference co-array (SDCA) to enhance the virtual aperture of sparse arrays. We argue that the key SDCA property established in [1] requires a critical necessary and sufficient condition that is valid for a very rare case only.
