The Analysis of Using Spatial Smoothing for DOA Estimation of Coherent Signals in Sparse Arrays
When there is coexistence of uncorrelated and coherent signals in sparse arrays, the conventional algorithms for direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation using difference coarray fail.

Recently, symmetric sparse uniform linear arrays (SSULAs) have been widely used for mixed far‐field (FF) and near‐field (NF) source localization owing to their high degrees of freedom and large array aperture. However, the heavy levels of mutual coupling of SSULAs limit the accuracy of source localization.

Sparse Array for Beamforming in Wireless Communication Systems
The usefulness of smart antennas lies in enhancing the received signal from a particular direction while suppressing unwanted interfering signals and noise from other directions. This process is known as beamforming. In this paper, we study beamforming using different antenna array geometries to improve performance.

Our study introduces a non‐circular coherent signal direction‐finding method that effectively addresses array aperture loss in mainstream direction of arrival (DOA) estimation algorithms. By utilising covariance matrix information and employing techniques such as eigenvalue decomposition and nuclear norm minimisation, our approach enhances ...

In order to alleviate mutual coupling, a coprime linear array using three ULAs (CLA‐U3) is proposed. The expression of sensor locations is given, and the analysis of DOF is considered. The minimum subarray inter‐element spacing in CLA‐U3 is bigger than that of the existing arrays, which means that CLA‐U3 can be less sensitive to mutual coupling ...

A Multi-Layer Concept for Coprime Array to Estimate Direction of Arrival
Coprime arrays have holes in the difference coarray, which significantly degrade the performance of the coarray-based estimators. In this paper, we propose a multi-layer concept to fill the holes and resultantly improve the direction of arrival (DOA ...

Improved Coprime Linear Array Configuration for Moving Platform in DOA Estimation
International audienceMoving platform based coprime linear arrays(CLAs) have been studied in recent years. It is shown that byshifting a CLA a half wavelength, the resulting difference coarraycan be regarded as the union of the difference coarray of ...

A novel method to construct low redundancy difference coarray on moving platform
Abstract A novel method to construct low redundancy difference coarray for direction‐of‐arrival (DOA) estimation on a moving platform is proposed by exploiting the fractal theory. The proposed method can be used in the scenario of a long period of stationary signal environment.
