Performance of Charm-F – the airborne demonstrator for Merlin

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
In 2015, the new airborne lidar CHARM-F for the measurement of the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide and methane was set into operation. It is an integrated path differential absorption (IPDA) lidar designed for the use onboard the German research aircraft

Open‐Shell Conjugated Polymers Enable Photothermoelectric Conversion and Detection of Short‐Wave Infrared Light

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Efficient conversion and detection of short‐wave infrared (SWIR) photons are becoming increasingly important for emerging photonic and energy technologies. Here, we report an organic photothermoelectric device based on an open‐shell conjugated polymer that enables SWIR energy conversion and photon detection via the photothermoelectric effect.

Field-deployable diode-laser-based differential absorption lidar (DIAL) for profiling water vapor [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2015
A field-deployable water vapor profiling instrument that builds on the foundation of the preceding generations of diode-laser-based differential absorption lidar (DIAL) laboratory prototypes was constructed and tested. Significant advances are discussed,

Towards Developing a Micropulse Differential Absorption Lidar to Measure Atmospheric Temperature [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2020
It has generally been assumed that differential absorption lidar (DIAL) systems are incapable of measuring atmospheric temperature with useful accuracy.

High‐Detectivity InGaAs/GaAsP Superlattice PIN Photodetector with a Thin Absorber on GaAs substrate for 1100 nm Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐performance strain‐compensated InGaAs/GaAsP superlattice SWIR photodetector was successfully grown by MOCVD on a scalable 100 mm GaAs platform. Combining excellent structural quality with strong optoelectronic performance, the device delivers a low dark current density of 2.3 × 10−7 A/cm2 and a detectivity of 1.9 × 1011 Jones at 1100 nm ...

Comparative Assessment of Landsat‐8 and SPOT‐7 Satellite Data With Field Spectral Measurements for Estimating Plant Diversity in Sandy Grasslands

open access: yesBiological Diversity, EarlyView.
We compared Landsat‐8 OLI, SPOT, and hyperspectral data for estimating vascular plant diversity in China's Hunshandak Sandland. SPOT data showed the strongest correlation with alpha diversity, followed by hyperspectral data, with Landsat‐8 performing the weakest.

Perceived importance and didactic difficulty of chemistry education: Insights from Czech teachers

open access: yesThe Curriculum Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This empirical study examines how chemistry teachers in lower and upper secondary schools in the Czech Republic evaluate the content of the chemistry curriculum, focussing on its perceived importance and didactic difficulty. Based on a quantitative survey (N = 146), the study provides insight into the pedagogical content knowledge of ...
